So stoked to play this as soon as I get a Switch! Actually I just recently found out about River City Ransom, and have been playing that.
This sequel looks like all flavors of awesome - except... the special effects disobey the pixel grid,

and that breaks the "sense of world"（世界観）for me. Graphics that couldn't have been rendered on a retro console just take me out of it.
Other than that, this looks like a really fun game. Also, it's refreshing to see female heroes in a beat-em-up. Looking forward to playing.

I can't believe I didn't know about this game. I'll pick this up after Streets of Rage 4. Also , is there online co-op?

Loved this game and it's quite a challenge too!

The voice acting is making me simultaneously cringe and wanting to kill everything.

BS. Do not buy and do not listen to this guy. Normal attack, picking up objects and opening doors are all set to the same button. Same goes for stomp and heavy attack. WHY!??! Annoying to no end. Oh and if you're not perfectly aligned with the enemy, wiff. Stay away, do not buy.

Yea, the boy friend really look's like Kunio Kun, and the guy in the shop is Billy Lee, love it!

There is also a 2019 remake of River City, and it's the bomb!

I played Renegade and Super Dodgeball never knowing they were based on Kunio Kune. 30 years later I'm trying to play all these old and newer games.

I found out about this game like last month when I was browsing eshop sales. I don't have much experience with beat-em-ups (although all the ones on NSO seemed alright, and River City Ransom seemed like one of the better NES games on there), so I wasn't sure about getting this at the time, and ended up missing out on the sale. Since someone suggested this game handled the anime-esque style well, I wonder if it would be worth getting at full price. I'm also wondering if it would be better on PS4 than Switch since the latter doesn't have the absolute best controller ever. Also, is it better to have played through the older Kunio-kun games before starting this, or does it matter that much?

The one downside is no co op multi-player.

I played this game although the graphics are really good with the music this game is mediocre at best the combos are very limited loss of money is bad when dead and feel over all clunky in fighting.

The music is why I got hooked.

This game will always have a special place in my ❤. What a fun bad ass magical, relaxing moment. . .many great memories, best game ever for so many reasons.

Neogeo retro era is something im definitely looking forward to

I hate it that they keep the pixelated art. Too bad, because the core graphics is great, they just had to get rid of the pixelated so called "retro" style pixel blocks and turn it into a sharp manga style animation. When will developers stop with this stupid so called retro style pixel blocks animation. Leave my retro graphics to emulation. A gamer since the 80's.

Sorry, the game is a disappointment, the hit detection bad and the combo system is not as solid as the original NES version. SOR4 is how new beat-them-up games should be.

I HOPE RWBY GRIMM ECLIPSE'S SOUNDTRACK IS ON THIS LEVEL. highly enjoyable! Some of these tracks are going to the very top of my playlist!

PS5 Version just launched. Free upgrade if you have PS4 version. I don't think you can carry over your save, but im fine with that. An excuse to play through it again 😉

Boring as shit. Hitboxes suck, gameplay is super repetitive, weapons bounce back to you when you throw them, leveling is pointless, recruiting enemies doesn't help you at all, enemy design is trash. The music is ok but that's it. 😊
