Fun fact, Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas was actually not made by Dr. Finkelstein, she was kidnapped from Dream Town, and the golden dream dust that she was stuffed with was replaced with dry leaves from Halloween Town. Also, she was technically a princess. It's in the book All Hail the Pumpkin Queen.

Theory. Synapse made the sarah but she didn't love him. He kidnapped Sally to figure out how to make her love him. Sarah love jack because he loves dolls.

(i haven't finished the video so forgive me if this doesn't hold up) the relationship with the blonde girl also gives me Der Sandmann vibes, which is a classical novel by E.T.A Hoffmann and centers around a man who is in love with his girlfriend initially, but while travelling also falls in love with another girl, who eventually turns out to be a robot crafted by an evil doctor. I definitely think this family is heavily referencing Nightmare Before Christmas in the Sims, but i also like to believe that they kind of merged it a bit with Der Sandmann

Little tidbit in my special edition of nightmare before Christmas dvd it was originally gonna be sally creator as oogie boogie but someone accidentally broke something and being on a time crunch decided oogie be filled with bugs instead of hiding the doctor and why he do it, why because sally was in love with jack use that information as you will

Ive always thought that Katarina was made by the doctor, or was tweaked by the doctor. She clearly doesn’t look like a natural sim, and she also seems to be comparing herself heavily to Sarah and her “perfection.” I wonder if she’s worried Sarah might make a better doll than her in her creators eyes?

I think the second bedroom is Sarah’s and the dungeon is for when she gets caught by rodrick doing something bad and he punishes her. I think that’s what happens in the films anyway

My question is HOW do you play the two households? That's the question of the day.

Idk if someone has already said this but maybe Synapses made Katerina and modeled her after a doll to distract Jack from taking Sarah from him. It explains Katerina's love for Jack being based on him solely being a toy collector.

Maybe instead of Jack making Katarina, Dr Synapse made her to distract Jack from trying to rescue Sarah and as a way to break Sarah's heart but showing her how easy it was for her to be forgotten so she's be a more well behaved prisoner and wouldn't try to escape. He's decently high in the medical career and with how Katarina looks like a living doll he's have the know how to alter her appearance to make her look the way she does so she'd be eye catching and irresistible to toy lover Jack.

Sarah has the personality of a young teen girl aimed show's female protagonist. She's also one of the most beautiful sims I've seen in sims 3 which fits that description as well.

Whenever I play with Jack I always have him save Sarah, then marry them. Then I have them have a child, whom I usually name after a Tim Burton character. 🤪

Along with the other similarities, Sally and Sarah are pretty similar names, and Sally is said to be an alternate form of Sarah. I know this because my name is Sally so I’ve looked at the etymology a lot lol

Katherina is one of my favorite sims, though she lives in a creppy town her house is cute for me, but sense it's lore it creep me out a little.

Sarah reminds me a lot of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, especially with her story. The Phantom attempts to kidnap Christine and make her fall in love with him. Notably, the first actress to play Christine (and the wife of Andrew Lloyd Webber) is Sarah Brightman.

I feel like the whole Midnight Hollow storyline and lore with these 4 sims is a mix of a bunch of different influences, with Nightmare Before Christmas and Barbie definitely being some, but I think Phantom also plays a role.

Just one tiny note, I know it doesn't matter, but I figured I'd mention. Dr. Synapse's favorite food is vegetarian lobster thermador not normal.

When i play this household, i usually make sarah fall in love with dr synapse because he begin to treat her better by giving her a room instead of the cellar and act better, like beauty and the beast story, but also because she realise that jack start to forget her for katarina. I even could married sarah and synapse once and had children.

perhaps Katerina was created by Synapse as part of his investigations on love - he studied Sarah's brain and when he thought he had enough information he created what he thought would be a perfect love interest for people - Katerina. She was the one who lived in the other room.

Only Katerina was not perfect. Instead of being loving and sweet, she's obsessed with this idea of perfection, and a love that is only skin (or doll) deep. She didn't have much of personality outside of being this doll, and Synapse realised she was not the perfection that he had sought, and therefore more study was necessary. He sent Katerina away (perhaps after wiping her memory) and continued his studies on Sarah, hoping to one day get the complete understanding he has been seeking.
