I love how Howard Shore brought back the "An Ancient Enemy" track that played during this flashback for the final battle between Thorin and Azog in Battle of the Five Armies with "Ravenhill" if you listen to that track, you hear this same theme which is basically Azog's theme.

Can someone please explain why this scene was so much better than the entire 'Battle of the Five Armies.' It's as if by the third film Peter Jackson had given up. 

is it me or was thorin wearing a fine mithril mail underneath his heavier mail during the battle?

after Thorin cuts of Azog's arm and he's reeling in pain why does he just stand there? His biggest fault at being a king is not capitalizing on his opportunities.

I know this battle was told in detail in the appendices of the LoTR books but it still deserved more length, especially with it being the most realistic (not over the top) fight in the first two movies

How did Azog get back alive ? They cut his arm off .....so ......OMG ! im dead ...-_-

QUESTION FOR LORE JUNKIES: How come these orcs are taller, stronger and generally more badass than the ones we see in LOTR Azog seems like he could beat a few elves in combat! And are these orcs better than Uruk hai?

Hello can any expert of LOTR lore explain to me why some goblins are smaller than orcs but then some goblins are also much larger than an ordinary orc, I know that there big goblins and big orcs like uruk-hai and also black orcs and also half trolls, but seem to me goblins would win a fight against orcs.

Why is this one of the only realistic battle scenes in The Hobbit? Why did they ditch this kind of battle, that came far closer to the LOTR battles, for stuff like Tauriel dodging an arrow with an arrow and Bombur bouncing around in a barrel mech suit?


If they do the battles in the third film more like this one [Azanulbizar], aka more like the LOTR-type of battles... I shall be very relieved. Fingers crossed for realistic battles and a proper transition from The Hobbit to the LOTR in the final film.
