Do you read the very outer ring for R134a or the second from outer?

The instructions show the hoses hooked up with the angled fitting connected to the port connector valves (opposite of shown here). On ebay the photos and video on a Vevor listing for this kit also show it that way. I wondered if that would make a difference. On the yellow hose, they show it on the video with the schrader end to the can piercing valve. But the very limited/poor operation manual/instruction sheet shows a schader valve at the gauge end of the yellow hose.
