Ex-employee dead after setting fires at former Kent workplace, police report shots fired

A man is dead after a tense hours-long standoff in Kent Thursday morning, the Kent Police Department confirmed.

According to police, the man, an employee of a local business who had recently been fired, entered the business premises in the 6600 block of S 216th Street with a gun and a gas can while making threats toward other employees.

Multiple 911 calls were made, and responding officers found the 55-year-old suspect inside the warehouse.
