Which PSVita Should You Buy in 2020?

I got my vita in 2019, and got a 16gb memory card for $25, not bad, I haven't played much but I am starting to play it more now

I think overall the slim is better, thinner, lighter, don't have to worry about memory cards, longer battery life, universal charger, longer lasting screen, however despite all these improvements, the OLED screen can be a pretty big deal, if you can only have one if probably recommend the 2000 for size, ease of use, and longevity. However I'm fixing a 1000 and I'll be using both, I think I'll mostly use the 2000 as a travel buddy seeing as it's smaller and has a longer battery, but I'll use the OLED at home for the best experience

iv got the slim modded it super good even in 2023

Oled one looks old and is heavy, charging port is a big no no, is an mod were you can calibrate the display on the slim one that makes it look much better.

Does the 2000 model still have the touch pad and the six axis motion control

Just got one recently and went for the LCD one, simply because the OLED display burns in after a while of usage. Sometimes with visible mark spots new from factory... Yes, better screen, but not for too long, unfortunately - or I guess, that was the reason for going with the LCD on the slim version. Also the micro usb is much better than that random proprietary cable that I have no other use for it...

I had both and id go with the psvita slim both of them have the horrible screen that if your area is at all humid and your hands arent dry as the sahara desert then it combines to make the touchscreens feel like touching a slippery ice cube but the slim has a better lcd screen [color or saturation was never an issue you just use a simple registry editor to enable the lcd and color space options in the display] and the speakers were from the start noticeably WAY better than the original vita and competing for better speaker than my nintendo switch but i havent fully decided yet but the battery is the most of it the only thing that made me sad about the vita is how quickly the darned thing died and now i can use the vita slim to play every game overclocked to the max and still get way better battery life than my original vita that was never jailbroken so i didnt even attempt overclocking. also both vitas chargers click in hard like how a lightning bolt would feel so as long as your vita slim doesnt have a slim charger aswell has one of those big thick brick adapter things to plug in then you can swing it around like a numb chuck incase you have to engage nintendos ninjas in combat because you downloaded a nintendo 64 emulator

As an OG owner back in '11 and a current 1000/2000 owner... Slim all the way. The form factor, weight, internal memory, matte finish (on my model, anyway) are all exceptional. The screen isn't a problem, no matter what people say. The 1000 was oversaturated and the LCD feels more natural. Plus, the battery life is great. As someone with mild OCD, not having to remove fingerprints all the time is a plus as well. Also, for whatever reason it boots and shuts down faster... not sure why, as the internals are the same.

Great vid.. don’t think changing the charger port to micro usb was a good idea tbh. Those kind of ports seem to break easier. I think the OG is the best version, same as the OG psp.. Sony seem to cheapen there products with their updates in my opinion

Having used both I actually find the oled screen to be a bit too vivid. It's like they boosted the saturation a lot to show what the oled is capable of. While the lcd screen leans a bit too much to the washed out look I still prefer it. If it's modded you can also change a couple settings which makes it almost as vibrant as the oled. You'd still be missing the perfect blacks, but every other color will look almost as vibrant, and more color accurate. You also get better definition in dark greys without the green noise or mura that you get with the oled.

OLED, better screen, better feel. You'll want to feel the weight, and the design is way better. Speakers not as good though.

Don't know if this was the case back when this video was released, but now you can replace NEAR to achieve 1GB of internal memory on the OLED vita

If your okay not having the OLED screen go with the 2000 model it’s much lighter and the battery last longer

I Just got a ps vita 1000 with a 8gb card and a few games for $130. Its pretty much in mint condition besides a few scratches on the side

i got my 1000 model for 60euros practically unused last year and honestly the oled screen is really good even for todays standards and the build quality is a nice touch , i can cgamestream from my pc and play emulated games on it with 250go crazy how good this console is

Just bought a new PS Vita Oled. You're right, it was damn expensive lad.

To be honest slim will be better on future, just because of more common charging port, I already had to replace my oled cable twice and there is either overpriced original cable or trash chinese ones

i just can't stand the glossy finish of the oled model. absolute fingerprint magnet. less impressive screen is a tough sacrifice, but a worthwhile one for cheaper, lighter, better battery life, internal memory, non-proprietary charge port, and most of all a fingerprint-resistant matte finish on the shell.

got forced to buy a 2000 due to budget issues and tbh its not bad at all, i really don't miss an OLED screen, i was never a quality person, i'm happy with 720p on a modern AAA PC game so i'll survive

You don’t mention this but if you plan to customize and reshell go with a 2000 there are 4 options of color for the 1000 and 8 on the other. Personally wanted to go with a pink and blue shell/buttons with a white face but only possible with the 2000, which has the worst screen … I can’t get over that #-_-

Also the onboard memory made it easy to hack, and the micro USB makes it easy to charge while I’m on campus since my college has those cables dotted around on the charging docks

Not a single piece of aluminum anywhere on the vita. It’s grey plastic, idk why people call it aluminum.

I got a mint oled for 90$, I’m so happeh, it’s weird since I feel like I’m playing on an iphone 12 mini screen. The oled is so good looking, I put some animes on it.

Vita was conceptually a cool console, but it was also kind of useless and had an overall very disappointing library, at least that's until you could finally mod it to play old games and open up its potential to wider usage.
That said, the OLED model is much better as a collector's piece. The better display is worth it, and the original has more nostalgia factor, and it's the OG. But aesthetically I think the 2000 has a much better design. The 1000 just looks really, really boring, when compared to the 2000 and the PSP 1000/2000/3000. It has the same design philosophy as those boring looking black glossy phones from around 2010-2011.
