I took a residential code class in college, and I will say this: I received more information in this 30 min video than I have 3 and a half months in a classroom. I was stressing out because I wasn't confident in finding all the answers (50 questions) within 2 hrs, and you have seriously helped my confidence! I know to look up keywords and such, but I never knew the index would be so helpful! A shout out from California here, you are amazing for putting this video up!

Are there any practice exams to take on the ICC B 1? I joined the ICC, but I don't see any practice exams.

in the question of notches and drilled holes in joists, you answer the question about the notches but not about the drilled hole.

Does the test jump from chapter to chapter or does it say first 5 questions chapter 1 , next 5 chapter 2 ? Or does it jump around from any chapters 1-10?

be aware that the ICC is doing everything it can to make you fail this test. That way you have to pay another $241. This is how the "Non-Profit" makes a profit. If the study guide and practice test talks about feet, the test will be in inches. They will mix up words to throw you off, they have questions on the exam that are straight up NOT in the reference manual, they will ask questions in which the answers are in the fine print. Good example is step footing -- there's ZERO mention of "Step Footing" in the table of contents or index, yet they'll ask 4-6 questions on that. These guys are absolute shit bags.

Great Video! Really helpful in understanding the test process and how to decompose the questions to identify where to look. A couple of errors as mentioned in the comments (tread depth, rafter measured to fascia) but other than that, great conceptual view of the exam process. Thank you!!!

Where can I get test prep questions for IPMC, IBC and IRC for the exam?

I took the B1 exam yesterday and got a 58,..
I used all their icc flash cards as long as the study guide and still got that pathetic score.
This video is what I need I feel 10 points more confident after this

Great video... I just took the 2021 ICC B1 and passed. To be honest, this video was a big reason why.

As many have stated before the EMPHASIS of test is about FINDING the information quickly...HOWEVER there are some very practical questions asked that you should know the answers to such as stairs, boring/notching joists, etc.. I would read these sections of the book throughly.

Also, if you don't have a construction background and do not understadn the terminalogy I would suggest reading and understanding the definitions section in the code book.
