Theres an easier way to disband the shogunate if youre in the same religious group. Marry into them and keep relations high in order to vassalise japan (theyre a OPM after all). Once thats done - annex them and presto! No more shogunate.

No vassals, there can only be one nation for the east, all of the asian people should be under chinas lead. You will show them their future without the europeans. No Vassals. Switch to Republic to get a chance for a good ruler who can westernize naval/army without killing yourself trying to get a 5 star reformer. Take quest for the new world, discover/colonize Australia and all the islands in between...then push and colonize the western half of the Americas... oh and devour the rest of Japan too, I want that island all one color.

Noble Republic is best and opens other republics because you can vote for leaders every 4 years so if you get a bad ruler it wont last long

Island hop to usa as i doubt the west side has been taken unless by sweeden however even if it is the island hopping will get you island and is anyless advanced nations are there you can take them over as your vassel giving you friends in america

I think you should release as many vassals as you can, conquer India/Oirat hoard/the weird grey area, and then go west :D

A question; why does he create so many CoT's? Besides the obvious colonist bonus, is there any bonuses or gains from so many CoT's on such "small" land?

Excellent let's play, a couple of things thats probably already been mentioned: Go Republic for a short time, get a 7 average leader, finish modernizing, grind prestige by getting "bill of rights", you get the release nation casus belli, lot's of pres. Release vassals only after conquering "infidels" they default to your religion. further challenges: Get the "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" idea, revolutenary cb on almost everyone, conquer europe, release vassals there, spread shenism :) ...phew

also if u wanna do a bigger impact on ur stability u should focus on a few places to get colleges and cathedrals they give u missionaries as well as magistrates and a 10% bonus to stability investment
