Controller Mistake: Runway Crossing Clearance Given Too Early / ATC Recording #aviation

949 right turn on delta2- 24right. Cross 24right was permitted right after 462 passed overhead. Assume "Delta2cross"is the strip leading to 24right.

So, Canada seems to have problems too. I thought at first rhis was Newark where we have three controllers doing the work of 14, because we can't afford to be short handed at JFK or Laguardia.

This is what results from airports being run by shareholders who prioritise profit, often at the expense of safety, by cramming as many aircraft landings and takeoffs as possible into the shortest time possible. Pilots and air traffic controllers will get the blame if anything goes wrong. No aircraft should be allowed on or near the runway until it has at least two minutes between other aircraft. Because ATC and Pilots are fearful of losing their jobs if they don't toe the line, this system of shareholders running public transport shows how moneyed individuals often prioritise profit over safety.

Thank god the Swiss cheese holes didn’t align and the pilot cleared to cross saw / heard the other plane taking off. That controller just straight up set them up to get t-boned which would have zero survivors most likely

I think the phone number bullshit needs to stop completely. You got a fly crew up there who’s already made a mistake and they’re stressed out and you’re gonna add to it but they gotta call the number. Let’s get the damn planes on the ground and then worry about phone numbers, I’ve heard these ATC more excited to give out these phone numbers and they seem they are to get airplanes on the ground and it’s counter intuitive to everything that’s supposed to matter. As if somehow, the pilots gonna fly away when nobody has any idea who’s flying the jet question.

Nothing spectacular happened. On each entry to the runway there is a threshold, when you stop before that threshold, you are clear of traffic on the runway.
