Have you used the iHarvest for growing flowers? What about edible flowers? Would it be possible to grow only flowers? Thank you for your excellent videos.

Hi, I am completely new to the topic and just found your channel. I think your video is a very professional and comprehensive review, showing different approaches and builds. Great intro for me, especially for the maintenance aspect :)
The only topics that could have been more investigated in the video (or I did not get it), are the space effectiveness and how big plants you can grow. The Aerogarden seems to me, to be unscalable. I guess they are other videos of yours, that will help me in that respect.
Same for how much food you can really produce. I know, you cannot have everything in one video ;)
Thank you for the great video. Take care.
PS: I would love to be as natural on a video, as you are :)

Thank you for your time doing this important research! It has helped me make an important decision!!!

Please consider giving the plants away for free instead of just throwing them away once they get too large for your growing systems? Facebook marketplace or Craigslist or a local farmers market perhaps? I’m sure you have neighbors who would really appreciate the opportunity to use them!

Are we able to grow cucumbers and other tall/vine plants with Gardyn?

IHarvest was never a contender of mine until you said how difficult it is to clean Gardyn. :( Now I am rethinking my choices haha.

Have you ever heard of Lettuce Grow/Farmstand?

The Gardyn version you used, was it the 2.0 or 3.0 version? The 3.0 version is supposedly easier to clean.

Can you grow tomatoes and lettuce with iHarvest?

Does iHarvest come with light bulbs like Gardyn? If so, are they easy to replace?

I just decided that I wanted to purchase an indoor garden. I am so happy that you broke down the detail between the three. I am pretty sure the iHarvest will be my pick. Just seeing the maintenance of the Gardyn and the monthly subscription totally turn me away from it. The only thing that I need to research more is planting cherry tomatoes. I am curious to see how much they yield. I guess I am just use to seeing a big outdoor garden, with lots of room. So I am still a little skeptic with this whole indoor garden, but willing to give it a try. If anyone has any comments on the cherry tomatoes, please let me know. It will be cool to plant a few tomato plants, if the iHarvest allows it.

All of these systems are good BUT the prices are TOO TOO MUCH!
You can make a beautiful looking DIY system using the $8 Mr. Stacky 13" butterfly stackable pots. I live in the Philippines and my costs are much lower at 90¢ each for the EXACT SAME stackable pots. I simply added a $12 pump and a $3 dollar five gallon bucket for the Hydroponic solution . I have experimented using Soil, cocopeat and or NO growing media. I prefer the AEROPONIC methods where you don't use Any media. For another $4, I made a few simple modifications to have a AEROPONIC SYSTEM.

I paid $16 for 18 identical stackable pots here in the Philippines and each stack of 18 pots has 72 growing areas.

It is easy to Make a Automatic system for a few dollars more. I added a 12v DC external pump, timer and a mist sprayer from a modified drip irrigation tubing
My Total 1 time cost for 72 growing sections was $34 here in the Philippines.
Your USA DIY cost would be about $80 for a similar set up like I have.

Or you can choose to pay $500+ or as much as $1,000+ for these manufactured systems.

BE CHEAP LIKE ME!
You DON'T need pumps or timers. You can simply manually pour a few liters of plain water in your pots if you are using soil or simply pour your hydroponic solution in the top tray a few times a day.

@amandap2660

Thank you for the video! I had been considering the Gardyn and hadn't even heard of the iHarvest. I liked with the Gardyn how the roots were self-contained but I may now be reconsidering that after this video. I currently have the Aerogarden Farm Stand and hate how frequently I have to refill the water and completely agree on how small the reservoir is. The roots do get very tangled and grow into the pump system. I'm also not a fan on not being able to use all of the pod space if you grow peppers or tomatoes. That is why I was considering a switch. You also have to be very careful on what you plant together. If you plant two things at different max heights or if they germinate at different speeds the slower and/or lower plant may not thrive because your light might be too far away for that plant to germinate. Aerogarden suggests trimming the faster growing plant but in some cases that may not be the right thing for the plant. I do like their customer service, you can send an email and they replace just about everything including seed pods if they don't germinate.

I came across Gardyn while mindlessly scrolling the internet. This comparison is very helpful! I’m leaning towards the newer gardyn studio setup as it’s smaller and more cost effective for me, especially since the subscription isn’t required. And since it’s only me and my partner, we don’t need a bigger system luckily. Thank you!

I just started looking at these systems- we have a tower at school. However, after research I decided that I wanted one that did not require you to buy their seeds, pots or medium as I have seen less expensive alternatives from experienced hydroponics people. So I like that you used that. I also don't like everything being tied to my phone. So I will add I garden to my comparison. Elfyes and another company had ones where they do not sell seeds as they want you to buy elsewhere.
