There aren't many tuts on how to recreate Mac functionality – which imho is very smooth, with many, many helpful features and great attention to detail. For instance, is there any way to get a multi-column view (a.k.a. 'Miller columns') in Gnome file-browser? I'd hate to give that up – it's so useful for grasping your file structure, and for finding stuff whose location you're not certain of.
