Painted nails 💅 on a dude is such a turn off…. On to the next video. 🙄
ОтветитьThe NTG3 and the 416 are evident as the big boyz. They are different too… the NTG3 has a lot more low end presence and a bit of crispness at the top. The 416 is pretty well balanced across YOUR vocals. To my ear, the Deity sounded good but not as good. For transparency I own an NTG3 and love it. I WOULD like to get a 416, but can’t justify it when the NTG3 is so good.
Ответитьdeity seems alittle weak in the mids
Ответитьwhats the farthest decent usable volume?
ОтветитьThanks for this great video. I’m definitely subscribing now. Quick question… I’m setting up a Home studio for professional voiceover work and I’m curious if you think I’d be Pennywise and pound foolish by going with the deity over the Sennheiser? If this career takes off, I could see myself upgrading to the Sennheiser in a couple of years. But saving money right now would be a wonderful thing if it’s not going to cost me getting any gigs because of a lesser microphone. Any thoughts?
ОтветитьMaybe its just my ears but the 416 still kills every other shotgun out there. So much more detailed sound... But I did prefer this Deity to the NTG3 (and not surprisingly... the Synco)
Ответить416 is another league. Sounds so natural and alive and is build as a tank. I think durability is a big one for me. You think the Deity is durable enough for EFP?
ОтветитьI actually think that for long content (like a podcast), I would prefer hearing your voice through the Deoty S-Mic 3 instead of the 416. I think the 426 is so articulate that my ears would tire from listening to it on your voice for an hour. For a short commercial the 416 does seem like it would cut through the mix a little better.
As for the sound of Rode NTG3 (and NTG5), it sounds like too much of low mids for my taste. I guess it is great if you want to sound like a radio DJ for a smooth jazz station. So to me, the S-Mic 3 sounded most natural of the three, which may or may not be a good thing.
Not a bad mic! I think I'll stick with my NTG5 for though, it's served me well so far haha!
Ответить🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, NTG3 is amazing and also the MKH 416! Awesome video as usual...
ОтветитьI’ve got an S-Mic 2S that I like for VO, so this S-Mic 3 has a familiar sound. Of course the 416 is still the best, and I use mine often. Well, I mostly use my 416 for everything.
I randomly bought a Synco Mic D2 from Amazon last year and it was fabulous! Really great. Then I recommended it to someone and they bought one and it was garbage. He went through three more trying to find a good one, and while they all sounded a little different from one another, they were all terrible. I felt so bad I ended up giving my mic to him.
I’m all alone here I know, but I can’t stand the NTG3. Muffly, boomy sound with no mids or highs. Blech.
Good review! Being a production audio mixer, I will appreciate exterior tests a lot, when not raining of course! 😅🌧
ОтветитьI'm always blown away by the crispiness and clarity that the 416 has, something that I'm a big fan of, but the s mic does really well for the price
ОтветитьI'm not at all sure EQing the mics in post is the way forward when reviewing.
Who knows what you did?
I would have preferred raw. I know what I can do with EQ
I like the 416.
ОтветитьAiden testing mics in the rain turns this into a wet T-shirt contest.
ОтветитьIt looks like Picard's flute.
ОтветитьWonder how it compares in weight with the baby brother of the Rode NTG family, the Videomic NGT.
ОтветитьThe deity mics have always been a little thin in the low end (think D4) and this one is no exception. Fine if you’re doing location sound, but I’d go with any of the other mics for voiceover.
ОтветитьSounds just fine to my ears. And that's having watched the video twice.
ОтветитьI hope you can also check out the Audio Technica AT897. Even less expensive... and Tom Buck reviewed it as well. I'm extremely happy with mine.
Ответить416 for me. Then the NTg3. Don’t care for the other two.
ОтветитьGreat review. Thank you.
I think I might like to try this.
They all sound good. The NTG3 is always my favourite, I enjoy its sound more. The 416 can be sibilant in my experience and hurts my sensitive ears lol. Great test! Thanks!
ОтветитьI purchased the Deity S Mic 3S as soon as it was available and I love it. I don’t have any experience with the NTG3 or the 416, so I was a little hesitant to purchase the mic because of the price point. But I boom it overhead to capture dialogue from indoor interviews and after a little EQ to get it where I want it for that person’s voice, I am very pleased with the sound and clarity. 🔥
ОтветитьI wonder how it sounds compared to the S-MIC-2 (which I own).
ОтветитьOther than the change in weight this has the Same capsule, specs and frequency response as the s mic 2. Better off picking up the 2nd gen on clearance or used. Once you add booth junkies eq curve to this capsule it’s an absolute bargain on the used market.
ОтветитьI feel the Deity is a good starter mic and even a good backup mic. I would agree that it outperforms the price. I have the soundbird V6 as a backup to the 416 but it's considerably cheaper than the V6 and even tho I have yet to hear a side-by-side of those two mics I did do my own comparison of the V6 and the 416 and I feel there was a greater difference in sound quality between those than what I am hearing in your tests. Wondering if I can sell off the V6 and get the Deity instead.
ОтветитьSounds nice for the price.
ОтветитьLoved it.., buying it at the end of the day.
I think you could give an eye to the AT 4047sv (not the MP, which is multipattern, but higher self noise)
The AT 4047SV is around $700, it has a transformer but with only 9 db of self noise.
No one has done a proper review to it, and I don't have access to it where I live and can't try it out. My voice is similar to yours, so if you can do that one, it would help a lot 😁
Sounds good, i don't think i have ever used a deity mic, i hear they are used for lots of tv and movie sets.
ОтветитьThat's a damn good sound for $399. I like the NTG3 but it sounded boomy (ha!) compared to the other two. Can't beat the MKH416. It's a beauty but I wouldn't want to hold it on a boom all day.
ОтветитьIm expecting it to be good as deity makes good shotgun mic however I'm not mclovin the price
