YES!
ОтветитьRemarkable ✨️
Ответитьto many ads...bye!
ОтветитьI am astonished by this film. How did a film buff not know of this genius? I must spread the news to my indie film friends. Wow.
ОтветитьEverything was fine with this film -- interesting work & life of a very attractive woman.
I'm fine believing she died of a cerebral hemorrhage -- it can happen to someone about 44.
But extreme malnutrition as a contributing factor. Unless they never showed pictures of her in that condition Maya never even appeared like someone who may have had that look of anorexia nervosa or someone starving.
She was a solidly built woman. In many of the later still pictures she still looked quite healthy. If she had malnutrition people would have noticed. Karen Carpenter, and at times Celine Dion looked it. So, I just have my doubts about that theory.
I do think the prescriptions Dr. Feelgood (also doctor to President Kennedy) was prescribing (amphetamines & sleeping pills) may have played a role. But I always thought certain drugs made you gain weight, retain water, not go skeletal, etc.
She died way too young -- it's too bad with all the friends she made in her creative world no one suggested doing something to make money, get grants, or get a commission, even film something for advertising the way Robert Frank did.
She had the money to fly to Haiti, didn't she? To buy film, develop it. Rent or buy cameras? Edit the film. The guy who she married didn't contribute anything?
Starve? I don't understand it -- in1961? It wasn't like she was homeless. There's something here that's not being told. And they cremated her. How convenient.
Ads every 15 minutes would be a lot, but ads every 3-4 minutes? C’mon, Kino Lorber, you’re better than this. Change your cash grab settings from obnoxious to just mildly annoying, k?
Ответитьabsolutely fantastic. Maya's films have been a true inspiration, and this documentary has shed light on so much. another gem of an upload.
ОтветитьQue gran artista ❤
ОтветитьEverything I know about her death boils down extreme amphetamine addiction. Weight loss and bad health. She associated with what was as "the mole people ". These speedfreaks were everywhere in the 60s around the art scene in the East village
ОтветитьI wish I could find music of her own. That recording of her singing blues was just, perfect to me. If anybody’s got it let me know please :)
ОтветитьThis lady was so far ahead of her times that filmmakers still have not caught up to her! Props and Peace to you, Ms. Deren!!!
Ответить🥰😇🧜🏻♀️😇🥰
ОтветитьLoved learning about her!!! Thanks much!
ОтветитьMaya was beautiful and a creative genius. An ex boyfriend of mine introduced me to her work and I have been hooked since then!
ОтветитьI'm enjoying reading Divine Horsemen. It's funny that she sounds like Ethel Mertz.
