Probably won,t receive a Reply since this is from many years ago but was pretty much surprised how original Lithuanian language sounded like when I found some Lithuanian Battle Chants from the time of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth called """Oi Sermuksnio""",if I spelled it right. The words and sound to me had a mixer of very Old Slavic,Old Magyar( Hungarian) and Tartar/Mongol plus if that music in the back ground was original ,sure sounded extremely Pagan and Scary.

False information to genetics. Baltics are closest to the Finns ''Outside of Baltics''. If we look to which ethnicity the Baltics are closest to, its each other, Lithuanians are closest to Latvians and Estonians genetically, Latvians are closest to Estonians and Lithuanians and Estonians are closest to Latvians and Lithuanians, because we have a really close bond with eachothers ethnicities throughout history with literally everything. Nope, never try to mix us in with the Slavs. And please don't say that on the streets of Latvia you'll be tarred and feathered and chased out of the country! :) Our folk history and oral tradition has countless ancient stories of how we had fought our way through the Slavic Tribes to get to the Baltic Sea, which we inhabit today. Trying to link us (Lithuanians and Latvians) with the Slavs are fighting words in Latvia. :) Just saying Latvian-American.

Pagan Balts were pretty agresive towards its neighbours what caused Masovian (Polish) prince Konrad Mazowiecki invite the Teutonic knights to help. The first and main idea was to protect Masovia from constant pagan Prussian devastating incursions.

The author of this videos has made several historical mistakes about the Baltic states ... of which quite important would be statement that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were occupied by nazi Germany in the beginning of the WW2. That is not correct. In fact, those three countries being independent states were invaded and occupied by Soviet Union in summer of 1940. As we know now Soviet Union and Nazi Germany were allies during the fist two years of WW2. Only in 1941, when Soviet-Nazi union fell apart and the war broke up between these bloody regimes, only then nazi troops took over the region ...

In fact, the Germans weren’t the first to occupy the Baltics in WW2. You and many more forget about the june 1940 Soviet occupation of the Baltics, and the terrible acts that came with it. We, latvians, call it The Horrible Year - the one year of Soviet occupation regime until German occupation in 1941. Tens of thousands of men, women and children, even infants were deported in train cars to Siberia as a way to exterminate our culture and to induce fear. Mass scale executions took place in cities and police chambers. When the Germans came to occupy the Baltics in 1940 the Soviets killed many more on the way. The German regime was not better. And we are left with a lot of hatred, especially towards Russia.
To set the record straight, nobody “liberated” The Baltics. It was just re-occupation.
After the war came more deportations and executions. No Latvian , Estonian or Lithuanian liked the Soviet regime.
And we , The Baltics, will never let anyone touch our land and people again!

Factuality of this video is not very high, unfortunately.

My family is from Mazuria. We are Old Prussian/Mazovian. We are distinct from most of East Prussia. Our surnames are Mazovian & some reflect the names of Old Prussian tribes. Our dialect, which some consider a language, contains Old Prussian words. While my ancestors also spoke German as it was the trade language, it was their 2nd language. We are not, as a whole, German.

No ! WE HATE THE SOVIETS!!! We dont have any mixed feelings , ww freakin HATE that we got murdered and deported to gulags...our countries russified!!! We try sooo hard to get rid of our soviet past and americans also have betrayed us time and time again , we were always promised protection from Russia but it seems like we are too little countries to be cared about

the thing that decimated our people the most was russia
and their attempt to russify our countries by killing or moving the locals
and putting native russians in their place
many of us have mixed feelings about the nazis because even tho they did kill our jews, gypsies and other minorities
they didn't try to wipe our culture off the cade of the earth like the russians did

I appreciate the fact of you doing a video about the Baltics... but it has so many mistakes, I don't even know where to begin.

This video has so many factual error that I would have to spend 2 hours to timestamp and explain error/misconception made by the author. If you want to watch it, be extremely careful and don't take any facts on the face value. If you stroll through the comments many of the error made were already debunked...

ps. The word baltic comes from the word "baltas" in Lithuanian, meaning "white".

It's the other way around.

Estonians are not Balts. Estonians are Finno-Ugric people. Linguistically and origin-wise completely different from Balts.
