Yes. You need that money to buy items to refine into str ups, magic ups, etc. Kill Ultimecia at lvl 7.

For those wondering why this amount of money would ever be needed, If you plan on maxing stats via refinement you will need millions of gil to max out your stats. Even with the haggle ability (with the exception of HP Up) refining each stat ups (Str, Spr, Mag) will cost 1.5 million gil each. Spd Ups are unfortunate only feasibly refined via the Irvine card so require the CC Club or Card Queen in disc 4, and Luck Ups can be farmed from Odin or via Curse Spike farming. You can of course devour enemies for stat ups but that is typically more time consuming.

Doing just cottages and optimizing your items for this can get you down to around 20-30 seconds for 100 Mega-Potions.

I made 53M in 1 hour, just make sure you sort all your items and remove the first 2 for the tents and cottage so you can use them fast instead of looking for them and waste time

Why not wait until disk 4 and card mod bahamut, sell the 100 mega-elixers for 750,000 and then play the left twin in the hanger of the ragnorok. I've been doing it for a while and she uses the bahamut card pretty much everytime. I occasionally have to play her 2 or 3 tines but a game takes about 15 seconds

If you are farming outside Esther and lazy to use the force spawning of Malboro, you would have plenty of Mesmerized Blades, you can also refine them into Mega Potion using Recover Med-RF ability. 2 Mesmerize Blades will refine into a Mega Potion, each battle against 3 Mesmerize you'll get between 2 - 8 Mesmerize Blades (8 is pretty common from experience). So, if you need some starting Gils, you'll be able to refine them and sell those Mega-Potions first. 😉

I got about 50M gil in an hour and immediately spent it on giants rings to refine into hp-ups. I eventually memorized the button inputs and memory sounds and now I’m faster at it if I don’t look at the screen.

This game is so broken and full of exploits makes me wanna abuse it some more.

If you card mod laguna and bahamut, then win them back, sell all the mega elixirs and heros 2x over thats 3 mil, 4 card games, 2.26 mins I got it in with even some error first timer trial. Left diamond USUALLY plays the rare cards you lose. In a perfect (impossible) run you can bank 75 mil an hour. Toss the error ratio in there and you're seeing at least 55-65 mil an hour, straight grinding those 2 cards and 2 sales of 100 mega elixirs and 2 sales of 100 heros at a time.

If you re-arrange items in your item menu, like putting tents, cottages and mega potions into the first three slots of the first page in your item menu.

You could probably do it much faster per run.
