This seems easy to cheat. Just already have a portal in mind that you want to target when you respawn and scout out the trees / ore beforehand

I know this is a super late comment but all of these could easily be fixed, you could easily plant portals where you need them.

But how can these speedruns be proven to be legit? It's 2b2t so it's a server that has been modified to help and back. Both of the mentioned speedrun categories say hat they use "found nether portals". So what would stop a speedrunner from conveniently placing a portal beforehand or finding their end goal and then starting their "run" already having knowledge of where exactly they need to go.
