Moving from Vortex to MO2 is like taking training wheels of your bike 😂
ОтветитьI've used Vortex since it came out and it's been great so far. I'll probably never use MO2 because it doesn't provide me with anything that's worth using over Vortex. Vortex has been a great modding tool so far and I usually mod skyrim, new vegas and fallout 4 with 400 or so mods.
ОтветитьStarted modding for the first time, Vortex was really great for learning but it became stale really quickly so I had to switch to MO2, I'm still learning how to get used it but Vortex is still a really good starting point for anyone really.
ОтветитьPersonally I use the community mod manager, simple and easy to understand right off the bat
ОтветитьMod organizer won't apply the mods for I.
ОтветитьIf you install mod without opening xxx edit, youre doing it wrong. Period.
ОтветитьNeither; they both suck. I'm using the old NMM with Wrye Bash and is such a better experience.
ОтветитьMO2. Learning curve but has complete control ovee your games and mods. Vortex is crap and is ruining modding other than their collection feature. It's making modding too simple which sounds like a good thing, but isn't.
Ответитьdo tannins arguments to switch to vortex and nexusmods convince?
the nexusmods claims(from the homepage):
1. There is no stable high-quality VFS with a free-to-use licence. (this ignores that the mo2 usvfs works indeed stable and fast since years!)
2. VFS methods require extensive customisation to work with different tools, hard links are supported natively as they are no different to access normal system files. (mo2 usvfs works without glitches!)
3. Diagnosing errors in VFS deployment is considerably more difficult. (mo2 usvfs errors are handled properly - i'm not aware of a problem)
4. USVFS is a Windows-only feature, whereas hard links are supported on all platforms. This means Vortex would be easier to support Linux or Mac operating systems.(wrong, mo2 works also on linux)
5. USVFS can often trigger false positives on anti-virus software. (switch to another AV if it tends to produce false positives!)
6. Hard links have no performance impact on the game, whereas USVFS will access files considerably slower. (hardlinks MUST be on the same file system/volume and has also a performance impact)
7. This is not to say that using VFS is worse or bad, simply that Vortex did not opt for this as a default deployment method. (true, but not an argument at all in favour of vortex)
the truth:
- hardlinks need to be on the same volume. there is no way to change that dependency in case you want to move your installation
. hardlinks and usvfs have both no or only an negledgible impact on performance while usvfs always establishes and displays the up to date virtual mod environment including all mod or mod order changes
- managing and changing big mod lists with vortex is a risk to screw stability if anything goes wrong with deploying/purging!
- managing a big mod list with vortex is a tedious and time consuming task
- mo2 uses a simple and clean virtual mod installation profile system, your installation can never get lost and does not need an additional "staging folder" and purging and deploying.
- mo2 never overwrites any mod file. all mods are always physically separated form each other and the game!
just think about it and use what you like and feel more comfortable with. mo2 severed me over more than 4 years as a reliable mod manager in a complex bethesda games modding environment!
thing is I've spent two or three months researching and I still have no fucking idea what I'm doing, and don't even understand where to begin. I've watched thousands of videos, still not a fucking clue how to do this shit. I've managed to set everything up how its supposed to be set up, the Problem is downloading the right mods. You have to download mods, that require 10 other mods to download and those 10 other mods need 10 more each to download, but be careful some of those mods don't interact with each other properly, and how do you tell who fucking knows the only way to find out is to spend 10 fucking hours downloading everything just to find out somethings broken but who knows what the fuck is broken, or why. Id rather just download a mod pack and not fucking touch it.
ОтветитьFor many years, I used Nexus Mod Manager to mod my Skyrim and Fallout 4 games until I took a break. During the beta phase of Vortex, I tried it, but it was too clunky for me. Now that I'm returning to modding, I plan to use MO2 instead. Even when I had 300+ mods installed, I never had an issue with my load order. I used LOOT to organize my load order, and if my game crashed, it was likely due to two mods conflicting with each other's scripts.
Ответитьlol my pause menu broke and I couldn't figure out how to fix it in Vortex. I'm not gonna lie I thought MO2 was a Skyrim only thing and set it all up for my first time so long ago that I didn't know you could create a new instance to swap games. Doing a fresh install and starting over tonight.
Ответитьi just started PC gaming and I broke vortex but not the game
ОтветитьAight you convinced me Mo2 is what i need to get BnB to work correctly 😂 if ykyk
ОтветитьI personally never had problems with Vortex, even with 350 mods that I use... But when i tried to switch to MO2, I got a lot of ctd and stuf like that, while I didn't have none with Vortex. But I recognize MO2 is way better for use. Maybe now, that I'm trying a fresh install of Skyrim, I'll give it a try ^ ^
ОтветитьI just can't get used to mO2 any tips, I find allowing for nemesis (skyrim animation thing) to work is really hard
ОтветитьI've used both. Vortex at first, easier to learn but becomes really difficult to deal with ones you have a lot of mods installed. MO2 makes sure you know what's going on and you're in control of everything, only drawback is that it takes a little bit of learning.
ОтветитьI think that even nexus mod manager was much better for early modders.
The sheer simplicity of it helped a lot of us learn our first steps. MO2 of course is plenty better, but to use it well you also need some basic understanding about modding.
NMM used to be a so much work, but it was rewarding and relatively easy.
Vortex is just... very unintuitive.
"Mod Organizer 2 is better it's easier to change your load order!"
"Vortex is better because you can more easily mark esps as light!"
People who manually install their mods:
"P a t h e t i c"
Yeah MO2 literally is the way to go. I started with Vortex and used it for a few years. It got to the point where I was unable to customize my load order properly which was a major issue. Switched to MO2 and took me less than a day to figure out how to use it properly.
ОтветитьVortex: enables mods, rearranges if necessary
Mod Organizer 2: enables mods, rearranges if necessary
I don't see the difference.
My problem with mo is that some plugins are not activated and i cant see them in game.
ОтветитьI only use MO2 but it does have a learning curve. Here I am over a decade later and used MO then MO2. I love the control in MO2 over Vortex. Vortex is for beginners but once you are down the rabbit hole, MO is a better choice. I've only used Vortex as a place marker and a test tool.
ОтветитьOne thing to note from my experience with MO2 (Awesome app BTW) is i get better result running the full Loot app through MO2 launcher than I do using the built in one clicking sort (When installed shows in Dropdown executables with game and script extender launcher)
Ответитьfact some mods does't actually work or proper install on MO2 lmao
ОтветитьCurrently learning Mod organizer nah I'm going back to vortex i just wanted to play
ОтветитьOk "Boomer" (SCNR!) - but for a beginner (like myself) it simply is not easy to run...hell, yes I've just fucked up my load order (Vortex isn't allowing me to change it, because it freezes when I try to solve the problem), but I can't simply switch mod-manager either and be done with it!
ОтветитьMan im done with vortex bro i legit ran into so many issues using it cuz i got like 200+ mods i think and like bro everything was going well until i uninstalled this file i guess called "data" on the mod tab on vortex and legit now vortex has officially shit itself and now it seems like i can not fix it.
ОтветитьCan i download MO2 on 32 bit?
ОтветитьWhen modding cyberpunk I ALWAYS install the no intros mod first. On Vortex, you still need to press the space bar to get to the main menu. I had to download a separate mod to get rid of that as well. I started using MO the other day and the no intros mod does actually get rid of the need to press the space bar. Vortex actively breaks mods. As nice as it is to be able to just press one button and have most of my mods download automatically, at this point I've had to manually install more and more of my mods because Vortex sucks.
ОтветитьI absolutely love using mods. Even the insane amount of copium I need to huff when telling my console friends that it's perfectly normal for my PC to sound like a jet engine while New vegas crashes for the 1000th time. But legit I got into modding when Fallout The Frontier was released and I loved learning to install and if needed to tinkering with the mods to make them work. I'm not a modder but I can make A Light Shining in Darkness hold 8 cartridges instead of 6 all on my own.
ОтветитьI’ve tried using both but no matter what I do my mods won’t function in game, even if they’re shown to be active in my load order
Ответитьhow do i switch to mod organizer if i have vortex
ОтветитьNone of my mods from MO2 are working properly and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and it’s not detecting if anything is wrong
ОтветитьTried to get open mw to work with mo 2 im just not gonna mod the game. Its WAY to difficult a lot of you people act like oh it's simple just spend 6 hours of your life. Trouble shooting and it will maybe work naw i'm good.
ОтветитьNew to PC ... Coming from Xbox / PS4 ... I downloaded Vortex... Making the switch to MO2 right now! Thank you sir! I like this video
ОтветитьMod Organizer is fit for its name, its more organized then Vortex, there are alot wrong with Vortex but i dont really wanna go through all the details about it cause there is a long list
ОтветитьI am a beginner modder, I started off using Vortex for Fallout New Vegas but ended up having issues in my game (mostly missing textures) that I could not resolve or live with. So I started from scratch this time with Begin Again via Wabbajack. And now im pretty much forced to learn Mod Organizer, I do like the ease to reorder and the file hide feature.
ОтветитьOverall I think they are both good, they just offer different things.
Vortex is a fast organizer that will generally do things well for you as long as you don't add incompatible mods.
MO2 is an organizer with more room for maneuver which can help you get certain combinations to work but can also cause problems for not knowing what you are doing.
In the end it is a question of what you are looking for and you can always grab the entire mods folder (a folder that you should have a backup copy to save time) and transfer it to the other organizer if you see it necessary.
Everything is easy to use once you get past the learning phase. Including Vortex.
ОтветитьHey i am currently planning to move from vortex to mo 2 but i don't know how to
ОтветитьNMM>
ОтветитьHighest amount of mods I went with vortex is 1645 only broke once maybe mo2 is better but vortex isn't bad
ОтветитьI think it works good for Cyberpunk 2077 (I have used it with fallout new vegas quite a bit also). The load order is alphabetical at least with Redmod and I haven't had an issue with load order so far. The way it leaves the game files clean is nice. I screwed up a bunch of fallout 4 textures using vortex and had to download the whole game again.
ОтветитьI've built a load order with 600 mods with a stable game, i tested and everything was working fine until all of the sudden vortex bugged and deleted files at random and broke my game
ОтветитьI've used Mod Organizer since the days of MO1, 10 or more years ago. At firts it was scary (I have to thank Gopher and his tutorials for teaching me how to properly use it). A year ago I wanted to try Vortex, and after 30minutes and seeing how it manages mod conflicts and file conflicts, I went back to MO2. Never touching that garbage again.
ОтветитьFor me the rule system of Vortex is absolute hell. I can't for the life of me keep up with this confusing mess.
ОтветитьI started out on the original mod organizer that NM's provided pre Vortex, then a few years ago I switched to MO2 until I ran into issues with it during a Starfield playthrough that caused me hours of game play loss. I then switched over to Vortex due to the heart ship that MO2 caused me because of it. Needless to say I'm back on MO2. The issue I had with MO2 was when I created a new profile for mod testing and optioned for the alternate game save files. Starfield did not like this storing save files in a different folder and would continuously lock up on me so when I unticked the save box under the new profile there's no option to save those game plays thus I lost hours of game play. A poor feature that MO2 has. So from now on I just don't tick that box, there's no option to move those save files back to the original save folder which is a bad design with MO2. As stated, I moved back to MO2 as it is still way better than Vortex due to mod management and being able to lock plugins in the order you would like them I am just more careful when dealing with profiles.
ОтветитьHonestly I been a modder since NMM the OG one back then back on Skyrim but honestly I tried MO2 but it seems more complicated for me and it isn’t as straight forward as Vortex. Although yes MO2 is probably much more better but I digress. Vortex points me in the right direction and helps me install things in the right direction.
