The entire Sneaker Game is so damn Corrupt & Polluted/Tainted with Greed & Vanity that it makes me disgusted & Aggravated at the same time.
Coming from the OG days of Sneakerheads where it was a Pure & Honest part of life and/or fashion. There wasn't really a Sneaker "Community" bcuz for 1, there was no WorldWideWeb. Advertising was limited to Store windows or your monthly issue of Eastbay mag. Everything was Word Of Mouth & things like a QuickStrike release was a real thing & actually happened! Footlocker would put out a new pair of Jordans on a Random morning w/o any notice & they would sit until the true heads saw & bought them. There weren't any "Storm the Castle" moments simply bcuz the only ppl that wanted the shoes were the heads, not the d•bags who only saw $$. Also bcuz nobody knew the exact moment they would release.
The Sneakers that were worth money were the pairs that u had owned for the past 5 years, and YES, they were worn! The Raging Bull V pack sat on shelves forever & I remember picking up the pack on sale for like $100 bcuz they were 60% off. Retros weren't even a thing yet, so if you didn't get those Infrareds when they dropped you were screwed!
Anyways, I could reminisce about the 90's Sneaker era all day LoL I just wish we could cut out the Cancer & get back to the Pure love of it all. I don't mind the profit making from it but when ppl are only in it for the $ it takes away from the ones who want the shoe 1st & make $ on the side! W/o the hype, it wouldn't be the same, but it's getting too heavy & some ppl take the Hype a little too far & those are the pounds I'd like to shed! I would love to own a limited pair of Off-White x AJ1 Chicago's but the ppl who want them to floss either can't get a W, or can't afford the 500% increase, while the ppl who do get them not only get a pair, but a full size run!? That's where I just call it a day & ask myself if it's something that I stand for!?
