Tutorial for using RiverSoft Art's Character Converter products

Hi there. I just purchased the script so that I can convert some G8 toons to G3. it came out all distorted and very ugly and totally messed up. does your script work with toon generation well? it's not working at all.. if so this is not useful for me.. since I do mostly toons..

Hi, followed the tut, took vic 7 and made 3 folders under correct morphs folder. Opened scene converter, followed instructions but this is my third time, I just keep getting Calculating mean value weights menu that loops every 11 seconds, 15 minutes and its stll looping, I have to shut down to exit, any ideas

ok, note to cant grasp instructions self. the first half is not going to give you a dial to spin, just a (guessing) it's an object file with no dial to adjust for the not quite G8F shape that was converted (like the old gen5/4 on/off only presets). Thankfully the elf ears were not part of that character duf as they need to have auto-follow off to not conflict with hair. And obviously, the apply head, apply body, and apply ears are not a character, they are a shaping preset, that the first script/window will not load, won't convert, just won't do it, lol. ok, trying the second one to get separate body head and elf ear dials (plural, as in all 3 Not combined into one) to have fun with.

I'm guessing I'll need to dial in the head, convert that, clear it, dial in the body, convert that, then clear it, dial in the ears, and convert that, to get all 3 dials over to G8F.

Still way better than over a month of importing and exporting to hex poking and prodding at individual mesh points and going through a million checkboxes in the ERC freeze tab each time back from hex, only for it to need yet more work in hexagon. lol.

(edit) gues it did make a dial, just in the Parameters tab, not the shaping tab where I was first looking.

(Note), zero out the g8f shape before doing another conversion (not just G3F), I'll guess the ears were making the other ear dial move cuz g8f wasn't zeroed after converting Sandi when I was just converting things randomly yesterday.

Hi there, I'm playing with the script for a week, and finaly found why my caracters load with properties of another one.
The problem existe only with G3F of type 'character'
It does not appends with those of type 'Actor/Character'
The former ones needs a the file [data/daz 3d/genesis 8/female/morphs/daz 3d/genesis 3/ctrl-rsc-female.dsf] when loading, and that file is rebuild for each convertions.
My quesiton is: There is a way to setup or give parameters to the script to corect that ?

not sure why, managed to convert on model via the scene conversion fairly quick, and now it is constantly going to "not responding" and darting back to work for a few seconds and repeating

thanks for the video. I bought the product (g8f to g3f), but having hard time getting the textures to come into genesis 3. Do I have buy an additional UV product to get the textures from g8f to g3f? I'll keep trying.


btw, any plans on making genesis male 8 to genesis 3 male?

Uh problem so the script is greyed out for me and it keeps on saying error see the log file

any idea why my character's skin shows gray on some of his body parts? the character that I'm trying to convert is tween Ryan 7. any help would be appreciated it

thank you for a great product. I bought both g8m to g3m and g8f to g3f. You mentioned in the product description that the "output" is also merchant resource.. not sure what you mean by that. does that mean I can use the ouput from your script (a converted Ollie Geneses 3 version) to modify and do my own sculpts and make a new product? Thats what merchant resources are aren't they?

looks oddly familiar, ok, and the thumbs up is blue, so I must have seen this before, lol.
Will hope any nuances between the gen7 vs gen6 variants are close enough to figure out, unlike the vastly different Blender interfaces, lol.

can this be used on ultimate zombie genesis 3 because the Genesis 3 Character UVs for Genesis 8 Male product seems to only work for Daz Originals

i need to contact you, maybe we can discuss by mail, i have a problem with this script, each time i try to convert a G3F to G8F i have a strange result, an alien morh interfere with the final result.

I am trying out the covert custom character and i have also tried the GF8 to GF3 version as well, everything converts fine except the eyes. In the GF8 to GF3 i get a line under the irises and with the GF3 to GF8 i get black lines as if there is a clipping issue or something. and the irises look a little warped if that makes sense. Is there a way to fix this? i have even adjusted The Tolerance slider to up and down but the same results.

Hi there, Im getting a better hang of this program... I think! lol! But I noticed you said all the morphs go to Daz Studio/My Library/Data; but then I could not find the data folder in mine. So where do you think my data has gone? I created the Gen8 characters from Gen3. Just wanted to delete some so I can reinstall, but I just cant find the data folder. Did I need to create one?
Please advise.

I really like this product but my new converted G8F characters are not showing up in smart content. I have this problem with several things and would like to fix it. I prefer to use smart content because it's easier to find products.

Hi there, I got the converter for Genesis 2 to Genesis 8 for both male and female. I am wondering what I may have done wrong bec all the conversions I tried for Cara HD and Liu Yan for victoria 6; LY Sabina... their conversion was not that close but that is kinda understandable at default setting. I did not mind that - but what was wrong were the eyes. The pupils were not round. What should I have done to prevent that happening?

hi im struggling to get this working - it always tell em " No importer for the file format can be found" any advice on this

"Just select the characters to convert and click execute!" - 29 minutes tutorial video. Presenter has no clear concept and realizes mid-sentence he's not really sure how to end it yet.

In my case all I get is "no NEW files were selected". Sadly I don't have the time to waste on this. I'm glad to see it's working for others at least.

I really like the way you put this together. Took me a while to find the morph sliders, but other than that - great product. Minimal setup required!

I have tried to use this script. I have a huge library. So far it does convert G3F to G8F, but takes like 3 hours per figure. Any ideas on how to speed this up? Thanks. BTW, Great Video.

script run for hours never return a converted single character :( The only solution I have, is CTR+ALT+DEL AND CLOSE daz STUDIO. I5 +RX 3070 + 32GB RAM

Can it be any more complicated?? Everything involving daz is a pain in the nut

For some reason it doesn't work. I did all what is describled in PDF, load G2 model, dial up desired morps,. then load a G8 Character. Select G2 character. CTRL and select G8 character. I only get 'An error occurred while reading the file.

Hi. I used this converter (gen8 female to gen2 female) and it worked but the gen 8 clothes still don't fit the new character, particularly anything with sleeves and pants and shorts don't fit well either. Is there a fix for that?

Hey Riversoftart and Sickleyield I hope you both keep continuing making products for G3mf and G8mf. Because I am not going switching over to G9! G9 sucks, the chest parts are super ugly. I was a disaster by G1 and now 2022 its a disaster by G9.

Content Wizard is a good product and it is very fast. One one I did Notice is that Content Wizard has the tendency of NOT Showing the FULL Content of My Downloads; that is where the Non-Daz3D get downloaded to in my case. If I can not find the product or Zip file that I want to Install with Content Wizard, how can I install it?
Is there anyway that a grag and drop can be done? Much like a Mod Manager would do. Like Vortex Manager for example?

Hello... A quick question... Daz users sometimes use the word "preset" to mean different things. If I load a character into DAZ that doesn't have a texture... and then add a texture... and then save it as a "Scene Subset" so I can load it with just one click... will your program convert it from G3F to G8F along with the texture?

I was able to convert some Genesis 3 Male characters to Genesis 8 Male without issues except for Damen. Damen's eyes are skewed. Eyeballs retains its spherical shape but the irises are skewed. I had the "Hide Eyes" checked and increased tolerance before converting, still nothing. Any idea why that is?

I'm confused as to why there would be a problem with genesis 3 maps on genesis 8, due to the fact that these maps are interchangeable between the characters originally, meaning I could have a non converted Genesis 8 character and copy the skin to the non converted Genesis three character normally, eye textures were interchangeable as well. So, does your converter break this native functionality?
