What's/where's the best place to send you questions? Here or another place? Email, etc?
ОтветитьWhy does your shirt have a seam in the back ?
ОтветитьAnd Adam proves that no matter how hard you try you can't brush your hair with an Axe. Thanks Adam !
ОтветитьI went and saw the actual axe used to knock down the door at The Stanley Hotel in CO. Kind of a weird tour but certainly worth it just for all the odd nuggets of knowledge they have.
They actually rebuilt the green old lady tub to the tune of like $50k just so they could remake the bathroom.
And apparently Grady was a real guy, and he's the source for most of the story!
They also have a cryogenics museum in case anyone was thinking of going lol.
How much is the axe 🪓??
ОтветитьI feel the acrylic should have had slightly beveled corners to eliminate any sharp edges that may damage anything and then been flame polished to make them clear and shiny again to look more finished. Maybe some L.E.D. in the base under the acrylic to make the acrylic glow and an engraved brass placard stating what the prop is and from what.
ОтветитьIts such a cool shot of the drilling and reeming of the hole! You know how the material and tooling are interacting but to see it through the acrylic was awesome.
ОтветитьBeautiful work 🙏🏻 question; what did you make on the lathe?? The small cylinder thing, I couldn't see where it was incorporated in the final make... someone please tell me, I want to know! 🙈🙈
ОтветитьAdam: I won't be doing museum-quality displays.
Also Adam: Build museum-quality displays.
I've built displays for state and national museums (albeit a long time ago), and those are as good as anything I've ever done. The only additional thing I would have done is flame-polish the milled parts of the perspex.
I also love the way he had $100 (well, close anyway) chunks of Perspex just lying around, I wish I did.
Nothing is cooler than those square hole mill bits/drills. I can't recall if Adam has even done a video on those. If he hasn't, he should. Most people don't know they exist but yes, you can drill a square hole.
ОтветитьWhere alchemists failed. Inexpensive axe and knife, put into great movie, becomes priceless artifacts.
Nice stands, love the tilt on the axe! Great twist detail.
When you’re using the air to blow off the equipment, don’t forget to blow yourself. You can take that comment any way you want. 😂😂😂❤
ОтветитьThat looks so good!!
ОтветитьIs it me or was the angle not quite right on the handle end of the axe? That angle would make the location of the axe on the far easier. That sort of this always drives me crazy. Has to be perfect!
ОтветитьWhoop, looks like Adam forgot about the weighty mass of the axe head overbalancing on the stand... Gonna have to re-carve the tops of the stands to a steeper angle to accommodate the difference. I'm sure he can fix it in time, though. He's a smart fella. I like the build--elegantly simple design!
ОтветитьFrom the days of watching your show as kid to now, where get to enjoy your banter and absorb some experience. Occasionally, even, getting to watch you tinker and create in your shop. Not a bad deal, sir. Thank you for creating.
ОтветитьOne day build paint the cast axe?
ОтветитьThe minute he started to make the axe display, I knew the weight was going to be an issue.....the advantage of being a second set of eyes a couple of klicks away from the project.
ОтветитьI'd have polished the sides of the acrylic, is there a reason you chose not to?
ОтветитьWatching Adam working the mill, it left me missing my days in the RCAF. When I was in the squadron at my last posting, I would often drop in to the Aircraft Structures shop, and rummage through the scrap bin. It's surprising how that piece you hold onto could be used years down the road...
ОтветитьDon’t look at the comments guys. It’s just pure negativity. Enjoy the video for what it is and look no further 😊
ОтветитьI love that Adam is basically every middle aged guy in America that's slowing acquiring "stuff" cause "I could use that some day", except he actually IS using it 😂
ОтветитьWatching him chisel the mortises on the table saw killed me lol. Bad for the chisel bad for the saws. Especially when he’s got a badass woodworking bench right beside it. He’s like me though and gets zoned in and doesn’t think about things like that until it’s time to sharpen the chisels again.
ОтветитьI am watching that scene in another tab trying to compare the props
ОтветитьAdam, please stop using compressed air to blow chips away! Use a vacuum instead. Easier cleanup and you're not sending gazillions of particulates into the air. Those blown chips also wind up in the nastiest of places in your machines.
Ответить"this is a casting of a real axe!!!"
no shit...
did he say dutch angle?
ОтветитьI’d personally display the axe as if it had repeatedly chopped into the base and got stuck…..but I have no class
ОтветитьThe axe is worth half a house, and the knife is a decent down payment for a car...
Not so shabby for iconic movie props.
No mention of the random, severed head sitting on the bench in that final shot? We're just gonna ignore that? All right then.
ОтветитьOk, total tangent here, but anyone else notice the white NASA chair he was sitting on in this video? Where did THAT come from? Certainly a story there somewhere ... did I miss it?
ОтветитьMissed the opportunity to make the stand for The axe an Split door where it's stuck 😅
ОтветитьIt is so satisfying watching a master builder at work. I always feel like I am halfassing my way through projects, but watching someone who knows the craft is satisfying.
ОтветитьWhile I am certain that it would slow down his process, I think it would be helpful if Adam did some running description.
ОтветитьAdam, do you have a NASA edition vyper chair?
Ответитьit is so Nice , i think led inside each hole to light up the acrylic would of been Sick also .
Ответить"Gentlemen... Polish your acrylic.".
ОтветитьEven putting acrylic over the magnets makes me worried. I hope that you put some kind of padding there (even just a tiny piece of felt), as well!
ОтветитьI wouldve just said 'Oh No I didnt check the actual weight of the axe head' and said stick around for part 2 then started over in the last 2 minutes to rebuild the right handle end to fix the weight distribution of the axe head, its not right. You can see he knows its wrong and feels defeated. That smile at the end is hiding a huge mistake, regardless its a wonderful video and I hope he does rebuild it safer before the movie comes to life at the talk and the axe goes flying of the table lol.. The length of the base isn't long enough because the blade of the axe covers the acrylic edge, and the knife holder isn't tall enough for the blade but I'm being picky. Apart from that its fun and inspiring.
ОтветитьCool stands but my OCD is getting the best of me why is slot B not centered in the wood base like slot A?
ОтветитьWhile the stand is lovely, it should rest on a replica of it protruding through the door.
ОтветитьShould re-do it but move the arms closer and adjust for weight difference in real thing
ОтветитьAdam should really wear a mask when drilling/cutting acrylic. Micro-plastic dust is nasty to inhale. The displays turned out great. I heard AGT's Simon Cowell was a prop-guy on the Shining. Does anyone know if that is true?
Ответить
