I watched a lot of these kinds of videos because I did have to rebuild my wardrobe from scratch. It was a daunting task but I started with quality basics, jeans, shirts, shorts, skirts, plus some fun, boho type items, because that’s a style I like. Undergarments and sleepwear of course. Once I had those things in place I got things on opposite ends of the spectrum, slouchy loungewear and a few dressy pieces. I did a combination of new and thrifted. It was a challenge and I definitely made a few purchase mistakes but in the end I’m happy with my closet.

That COS merino crewneck has been on my watchlist for a year now gah. I thankfully was able to thrift a similarly thin merino sweater (Elie Tahari, I think -- too lazy to check) late in the winter and MY GOD did it ever fill a gap in my wardrobe.

I love this content; it is so very helpful. In a sense I’m starting over. I just retired—figuring out what daily dressing is going to look like will be a process. I love clothes and have curated and collected as long as I can remember. I have way too much for some one not going to work everyday. Figuring out the formula is the challenge. This video is very helpful. Thank you.

Last year I bought two POMP shirts after seeing you wear yours in your videos for several years. I needed to refresh my white button down and while I was at it, I got a light blue as well. I am wearing them constantly. The fabric is a wonderful cotton with a substantial yet soft hand. I would never have known about these if not for you, so thank you!

Linen — I just can’t accept the wrinkles, and I have neither time nor inclination to iron. I feel it looks sloppy when unironed.

Alyssa, your strapless black dress is designed to drape, but I notice it's loose fitting around the back. I have a narrow back and find even size xs dresses with shirring fit loosely there. Then I don't get the support when braless. I see you wearing it, and that makes me think it's an ok fit.
Sometime could you please do a video on knowing a proper fit and estimating whether or not you're pulling off a braless look?

I wonder that you wear a size M with the POMP shirts. I would have seen you as a size XS or S?! Or are the sizes so small? I generally wear XS (I am 1,71 cm) and now I am unsure what size to choose.
Could you give me an advice?

Great video and helpful info. The most basic for me: Jeans, black trouser, black skirt, cream button-up silk blouse, black crew neck sweater, stripe tee, sneakers, black boots, strappy flats…and a trench. That just got me through a 2-week trip to London….and left room in my suitcase for a couple of fun items found in London vintage shops! 😊 Your packing videos helped me a lot!

This is a great video - it focuses on what is important in our wardrobes, and filters out some of the noise!
I'm so with you on the puzzle bag! I loved this from the first moment I saw it, loved that it was slouchy and understated. But, like you it was outside of my budget, so I saved and bought one preloved. It is so me, as I love slouch in my bags. I chose a denim blue version which is amazingly versatile.
Now I'm going to try and condense, what I would buy, if I was starting from scratch....

Couldn’t agree more with the handbag comments🎉 you put words to feelings I didn’t know I even had. I want it to not pull me or the outfit down, but be a compliment. I haven’t been able to commit to designer bags even though I have certainly spent enough money over the years on bags that didn’t suit me to add up to several REALLY nice expensive bags. I have a mental block, so maybe what you said will shake that loose! Thanks for your thoughtful content as always!

Love how the knot on the button up adds some shape, while still looking relaxed. Can you show us how to tie it please and thx. My got tos are a lightweight cashmere crew, brown leather boots that make a dress look less precious and gets better with age, a trench and leather jacket. Great content! Thanks ❤️

I ended up having to completely rebuild my wardrobe ...... And in the process lost 8 much loved pairs of Manolo Blahniks, a collection of Gold Hawk silk camisoles, a red Chanel handbag ...... Etc etc etc.

I am British and returned to the States to deal with a divorce. He had used an old Power of Attorney long forgotten about and cleared out my storage container. Some stuff he burnt. Other stuff gave away.

What actually broke my heart was losing the copy of "The Lord of the Rings" signed by my Grandfather, and my teddy bear that was in my cot when I was born together with my two dolls that I had owned as a little girl.

I learned a valuable lesson ...... I can replace shoes and clothes. Some things like my little dog and cat ..... And my second husband ..... Are the real things that aren't replaceable.

You keep talking about your Power of my People shirts, and honestly, I'm not much of a shirt wearer. HOWEVER. This summer, I caved and bought one of their linen shirts - the Friend, in a Proper fit, as you have - in the dark green and I wore it so much over the summer months that I caved again and bought a second one, this time in the oak brown colour. Absolutely beautiful, they go with my more casual style and fit perfectly into my colour scheme; they are highly likely to be worn year-round because they're comfortable and easy and go just as well under a cashmere jumper as on their own with a pair of jeans or chinos.
