The man doesn't need an introduction. If you don't know who Bobby Clarke is....sorry!
ОтветитьRobert Earle Clarke. I forget the commentator, but someone once said something like “if I had a team of Bobby Clarke’s, we’d never lose a game” or similar. No one ever had a bigger heart or will to win. Still, all these years later, my favorite all time pro athlete. Love the channel, Zach.
ОтветитьWhen I was a kid growing up in Edmonton, they had a program in the school where you could purchase books. I loved hockey, but Edmonton didn't have a team in the NHL at the time, and so I didn't really have a favourite team. Well we got the order forms to buy books, and I saw this one on Bobby Clarke. I bought it, and read about what a great leader he was and how he played with diabetes, and he instantly became my hero and the Flyers instantly became my favourite team. Bobby Clarke will always epitomize character, leadership and hard work to me. Great interview.
ОтветитьLifetime Islander fan here. I have lived my whole life in the ABE area so this is Flyers territory. The Broad Street Bullies brought many more of my classmates into liking hockey. Hockey took off like wildfire. We all were playing street hockey with sticks that had a name on it that you know well. Your videos are good stuff.
ОтветитьClark could have been groomed as an assistant captain for a year.
ОтветитьGretzky was the best player on the Oilers but he wasn't Captain material he was too laid back (reserved).
ОтветитьWho is this guy's dad?
ОтветитьClark was never a good GM for whatever reason maybe he didn't want to hurt too many feelings even in Minnesota he wasn't a very good GM.
ОтветитьLindross was a bust in many ways maybe not a total bust but he fell short if many peoples expectations.
ОтветитьLindross wasn't really Captain material just because he was physically imposing also doesn't make you captain material.
ОтветитьBobby Clark as GM was kinda like Donald Trump the way he was treated by the media is what I'm feeling.
ОтветитьThoroughly enjoyed viewing this video. Good Job.
ОтветитьI'm not sure if Zak avoided talking about the 72 summit series or if Mr Clarke asked him not to mention it but holy cow, how do you talk about a mans playing carrier and not mention that part of his life t!?? I know that for most Americans, the 72 summit series didn't mean anything. Heck, most people in the US probably never heard of it. But if you're trying to understand a man's lifetime contribution to the game of hockey, gosh, that's gotta be in the discussion.
ОтветитьThe Cooperall pants. My brother wore those for a year or two in high school in the early to mid 80s.
ОтветитьOutstanding interview. O e of the best ever!
He asked some very difficult questions about the lower salaries that he missed out on and the trouble he had and Philadelphia has a general manager - all things I always wondered but he asked them graciously
Fantastic work !
Fantastic I love this.
ОтветитьThe greatest Flyers ever
ОтветитьGreat interview Zak. I'm 60 years old and at the time the Flyers were my life. Two of the hardest working players in the NHL....Clarke and Kindrachuk.
ОтветитьI love this man so much, and have since I was a kid. He is as honest and straight forward as any pro athlete has ever been. He has been an inspiration to me since I saw him win the cup when I was nine years old, and he inspires my own son as a hockey player right up to this day. He's a Philly saint, and always will be.
