Okay, so I made my feelings pretty clear about Nvidia earlier, but I decided to come back and watch this video all the way through this time, plus give it a thumbs up (I'm here to support the channel after all, and you guys generally do some pretty awesome work).

Now that I've seen all those people's reactions, here's my takeaway: Nvidia is now making/selling GPUs that can't 'cut the mustard' at native resolutions, which makes DLSS4 their means of bridging the gap between their poorly performing hardware and the kind of gaming experience people are expecting when they buy these latest generation video cards.

Still a 'no thanks' from me, Robeyman: I'd rather own a GPU that doesn't need to rely so heavily upon additional software layers/AI to get my games to play smoothly at decent framerates, from a company that doesn't engage in the type of marketing chicanery and profit mongering that Nvidia is so well known for.

Thank you for the video. After watching it I'm actually even happier that I splurged on four different AMD (and two different Intel) GPUs during the last year or so. 👍🏼

Why dont you test the stuff without special stuff against the 40xx counterpart?

The first test makes no sense.nvidia 50xx series is trash. and has next to no benefit vs the 40xx series.

We got one crappy card with half its tech on vs. A crappy card with everything turned on. Can you create a more bias way to showcase your crappy gpu? This isn't a knock on robey but nvidia for setting this up.

I think the video itself is good content but the timing and current online discourse around Nvidia are not great.

This comparison is worthless. Of course upscaling makes games run faster and feel more responsive. This should have been DLSS 4 upscaling with no FG versus DLSS 4 upscaling with FG.

It's not a review video, so I don't see why this is being lumped in with the nvidia scandal. It was interesting seeing how DLSS on vs off compared. I enjoyed it. Obviously, if someone is considering purchasing a 5060, they should watch a detailed review with benchmarks against similarly priced cards at native resolution as well as descriptions of each card's features. However, it is clear that is not what this video was trying to do, so it is a shame that it is getting the criticism that it is.

I may use upscaling, but I tried frame generation on my RTX 4060 and turned it off in 10 seconds while playing Hogwarts Legacy because it introduced artefacts and anomalies that killed my mood. I would say that if Nvidia has chosen this path for their future cards, they should at least reduce the prices of these GPUs significantly and not just 5060 but may be even higher end cards because this would take relatively lesser cost to manufacture. However, if they do not pass on the cost benefit of AI upscaling and frame generation to the user, it is bad.

I don't really give a crap about the negative press surrounding Nvidia right now because I think that ultimately they're doing great work, but holy crap, this video is so transparently an ad. I hope you're getting a ton a cash for this, bro. I really do. There's got to be a way to do this more subtly.

Normally it would have been just a normal video that shows the difference when you try out dlss vs native on the same card

Sorry but DLSS is the worse thing that happening to NVIDIA. Now days we need this feature (that should be for a XX60 series card ONLY or a XX70 series card if you really want to push 4K) to have decent frames on any modern game. The image quality is inferior, it generate artifacts and make native resolution not enough for gaming. Also fake frames are just a number, it's not REAL horsepower

Guys, he's commented in this video about all this, and in his discord channel. And i can say with 1,000,000,000% certanty, he's bashed on Nvidia pretty hard in the past. Trust me, Robey is NOT an Nvidiia person. He's done many gpu's with Intel and AMD (he's even done full on all AMD and Intel builds live on stream) He's not perfect, no, but this does NOT make him an Nvidia shill.

a couple of ideas for amd fans (the curiosity is to trigger brain activity there). How long since AMD had a competitive flagship card? rx 580 8gb launched for 220 GBP. That is 290 today. U can buy today a 5060 for 280 GPB. is nvidia expensive or u cant be bothered to work even for a week? If reviewers had anything good to say about radeon 7, or 7900TX u think they thought those were competitive? Do you enjoy being 10 years behind in graphics tech. And a wish since U amd fans, play all your life on fsr balanced.

I love DLSS when its used correctly. My issue with it is that its become a crutch for lazy developers. They will load their game up to the breaking point and then throw DLSS on so that its runs at 50-60-70 fps with lots of stuttering. Starfield is a great example here. DLSS should be used as an enhancer or for really low end machines to be able to play and appreciate new triple A titles.

It's not even a conspiracy theory. Many people have used NVidia's frame gen that only does one frame. Everyone knows that it literally feels worse than native at low fps. That is an actual fact. Adding more than 1 frame doesn't make it magically better. The only way frame gen could ever be useful is when you already have a high frame rate and dont really need frame gen. In other words, it's not real performance. The real performance difference here was rendering at a lower resolution which is an unfair and misleading comparison because every gamer has access to upscaling. Either FSR, DLSS on the past 3 gens or XeSS. The internet exists; I know that game runs at 20 fps with no upscaling. The scummiest ad I've seen in a while lol.

Half life with ray tracing on is a bad faith gameplay demo. ray tracing was never meant to be used with out dlss. so putting a game with full RT on giving it an absolute dogshit fps and then turning on dlss and being like "look how much more smoother it is!" just isn't in good faith, a different game would've been more fair.

Bro, you did 20 fps vs 60 fps (Because you did native vs low rez on a pathtraced game). Sane people will never pick the 20 fps one. No one disagrees with me except YOU. YOU are just doing BAD FAITH arguments. Test 101, only change one variable. Do upscale vs upscale with the new frame gen. Or Frame gen 1 vs Frame gen 2. The description straight up says DLSS 4 is a performance breakthrough, yet upscaling exists in the old DLSS, intel got XESS and everyone else got FSR.

Just want to know what hardware do devs use to make these games that have graphic settings that can't be played on above 30 fps without upscaling. Wish they'd test games on low to high end systems and actually optimize their shit. Who the fuck wants AI over Raw image. Cheap, scamming, greedy fucks. Esp Nvidia makingvthe shittiest next gen overpriced pieces of garbage that relies heavily on upscaling.

It's a bit childish to think a large number of average joes is a factor. Buying sh 580s of ali express hardly dents nvidia dominance. Whats sad in the life of such people is that they havent seen what a high end system is but they make quality judgements. It shows how much u care about your computer.

I am noticing a lot of comments directly tied to the Gamers Nexus video that was posted directly on top of the Nvidia keynote. I am going to be super clear that everything that he mentioned in that video was not ever done to me and in under no circumstances was I threatened at any point by Nvidia to do these videos or any of our other videos in exchange for access. In fact, we have reviewed a number of their cards poorly and even upon getting a RTX 5060Ti we didn't review the card at all, because we couldn't even though they sent us a card, which wasn't an issue to Nvidia. AS for this video I am proud of this video, this was a good test and if people would actually watch it versus just coming here to comment you can actually see that the technology is pretty dang cool. I work with AMD, Nvidia, Intel and all of them for all sorts of reasons to do cool videos to highlight technology. Do I think this is going to change folks minds, nope. But what I did want to make clear is that we actually cover everything in the technology stack because we want to, not because we have been told to. It's because there is no one size fits all for tech and that their are people actually want to know and we find creative ways to show them. Hence we have gained subscribers from this video as well as lost a few (yes a few). Obviously, this video was started way before GN posted their stuff and lastly as you can see we also do not have a review of the 5060. So, this video was not in exchange for a review, and we have cards just like HUB does without drivers.
