magnificent documentary, just a small but important clarification: northern Italy has invested a mountain of money to try to develop the south, unfortunately the mafia has eaten it all and keeps the south exactly as it wants it, controllable. A bit like what happened when, after the fall of the Soviet Union, the Americans financed a lot of money to Russia (like the Marshall Plan for Italy after WW2) trying to make it enter the economic orbit of the West. But we all know how it ended... I can say it because I am the son of a parent from the north and one from the south, and in Italy it is difficult to find "superpartes" people because the nationalists of the north say that the south did not develop because they did not want to work, instead the nationalists of the south say that they did not develop because of the north that stole their money. When they manage to eliminate the mafia, southern Italy will become the most beautiful place in the world. As an Italian I am sad that in documentaries they never talk about the real MAFIA problem and Coppola should know a lot about this given his past films.

Ford Coppola saying that the North oppressed the South is utter ignorance of Italian history. Italy is only just over 150 years old. If anything since then it has been the North that has kept the South on an even keel through taxation. To suggest otherwise is an insult to the North.

he was looking better, and moving better, than ever before, in his last shows, mainly because of a love for jiu jitsu and better physical health, which makes it even worse, because he had so much more to give. couldn't believe the news at the time, i felt like throwing up, still sad, but i am glad i can watch his shows again.

Every time I see Asia. I just feel sick, angry and can't watch anymore.

I will never believe that Anthony Bourdain took his own life. That is because of what I read about that possibility in his books. Loved the segment with Francis Ford Coppola.

Very good at capturing something sinister in this region ...running in the background ....and though he is a bit " on television " for a european ( as his country condemns him to be ) ....he has this captivating forthright personality and something of the creator / artist ...

Anthony Visits the Southern Part of Italy.. episode should be used as example for people studying to be film makers... documentaries... beautiful... but this is corrupt way.. there should be no study.. just work... like always... those who are adept and know how to do... got a job... no reason to study and then think they can able to do something...

Puglia & Basilicata are the essence of italian DOLCE VITA. I am blessed, having relatives living there, to be able to go to this parts at least once a year. ❤

Heavens, Puglians seem to be an earthy lot! So different from we uptight Anglo Saxons. Had I had a choice I think I would have preferred to grow up there, but without the religion and tarantulas. I can see why Anthony was captivated by Asia, alas for him a free-spirited lady with a tarantula's bite.
