$3000 dollar fine? What a ridiculous ripoff. Classified as a motorbike. Are no it’s electric. Like your mama’s sewing machine. Let them buy them when they get popular fine them. Just like smoking, get them addicted, then put the tax up. This country sux.

I get the 24km/h thing, but not the throttle element. What’s the difference in danger between throttle and pedalling?

Ответить
@richardschultz6815
@richardschultz6815 - 13.06.2025 02:56

a lot of the e bikes have a throttle which works up to around 6 klm per hour and as an 87 year old this is essential for getting started quickly particularly at intersections as these bikes are very heavy to start off pedaling for an older person

This story shows how ridiculous some rules are in Australia.
I don’t want my kids riding around having serious accidents on these bikes but I do want all the deliveries done on these bikes.
As they are banned, that means we should have a couple hundred thousand petrol based scooters to do that work. Aren’t we trying to save the planet by forcing everyone to get electric cars. This is one of those rules that hasn’t caught up we the green agenda, or are we not really serious about saving the planet.

The insurance companies, police and tax office all lose out on money when they can't charge you for everything they charge you when you have a government approved mode of transport. It's all about the money. This doesn't have sh!t to do with safety. The Australian government was beating people with batons for not wearing a mask.

What is so scary about this segment and all other "news segments" is the total absence of subjective, proper reporting night after night, or actual important topics/events. The media in this country operates on a diet of utter gobshite; ignoring the important issues that overseas channels report on that have a domino effect around the world. Probably own by that POS WEF Klaus "Anal" Schwab.

"How many times have you had to dodge an e-bike..."

About 1/100th as many times as a car, which can drive much faster with much more deadly kinetic energy, which has been one of the leading causes of premature death in virtually every country around the world.

But sure... let's hear how e-bikes have ruined society today.
