Another reason is 1.12.2 has so many dinosaur mods that are high quality and look awsome i know newer versions have too but then you have on 1.12.2 jurassicraft, reborn mod and prehistoric nature and few others too

I got stuck between 1.18.2-1.20.1 due to the create mod. I play it in almost every pack and it’s the reason I’m continuing to playing these version of the game. These mods are insane and is the only reason I continue to play.

And here i am playing 1.7.10, 1.12.2 and most recent versions.
It's all about balance.

1.20.1 is my favourite, only because I made a mod pack myself with nearly 180 mods working together somehow on both forge and fabric (yes it is ridiculously unstable but I can get above 50 frames with 20 chunks render distance so I’m fine with it

Only beacuse of 1.12 is a compiled mod heaven doesn't mean that 1.20.1 and 1.16.5 mods are bad most of them are actually just never versions of these mods idk, i kinda agree but also disagree
