First! :D Oh, and that reminds me that I need to order one of those pink pleasures. Only been putting it off for 7 years or so. Been about that long that I haven't done anything with those CCFL tubes I bought from you. :/

I forgot something. The subject of UART. Do I need a signal and level converter if my test device has a UART interface with a signal level on TX and RX 5 volts? With the JTAGulator I can set a voltage range from 1.2 to 3.3 V. Which fast IC can I use best for signal level conversion? Thank you for the help.

I would like to add one thing that cost me some hours of debugging.
The first ft232 I used seemed to loose usb connection after a short while.
The second tricked me in to thinking I had bad soldering again and again, because everytime I resoldered it worked for a minute - but only with linux, not with windows. Later I discovered that it was the heat, that somehow made it work for a while.
Use ft_prog to check the serial number of the ft232, because there are many many fakes out there, and they do work very unreliably!
Beware of FT232 serial numbers A50285BI or 0!!
Maybe this could be redesigned using a CH340.
