good idea, I will start doing that, thanks
Ответитьbig idea nice bro
ОтветитьLove the kapton tape alignment idea!
ОтветитьThe temp rise seemed very fast which would be dangerous for the BGA. Does the digital hot air system run a proper profile or at least closer than just waving a bunch of heat at the work piece?
ОтветитьWhy did they skip the step where they added the solder? Do you add flux? How much solder do you use? How do you know if you used too much or not enough? Seems like that the most important step.
ОтветитьI personally think the people who came up with the idea of a BGA chip (and chips like it) should be beaten to death with a stick! lol
Ответитьwhat is the temperature of the hot air?
ОтветитьThe question is how to align without the silkscreen.
ОтветитьGreat way bro
Ответитьthe very useful good idea, I will start doing that, thanks
Ответитьnice job ...
ОтветитьBGA is an abomination! Especially when used on chips that normally operate super hot, like GPUs. The chips don't just fail from over heat, THEY FRIGGIN DESOLDER THEMSELVES FROM THE DAMN PCB!!!
ОтветитьPeople are crazy...
ОтветитьWhere's the X-ray link?
ОтветитьIs it possible for a hobbyist to solder a 1.0 / 0.8mm pitch BGA package by hand if it has lead free solder balls?
ОтветитьHow reliable is this method? Could you get it under an ersascope and show us please.
ОтветитьHow much?
ОтветитьSo is this just a way of soldering BGAs? What about the operation of the chip? Are you sure you did not destroy it? You pushed its' temp from 25 celsius to 300 in a few seconds? Is that supposed to be the right way? Shouldn't you be gradually increasing its' temp rather than pushing it up to 300 celsius in a few secs in order to avoid any cracks in the structure of the ic?
ОтветитьHow strenght should I press on the BGA after the balls are melted ?
ОтветитьThis in interesting! I have no experience in BGA,
I am just curious ....
it seems that the "solder balls" are already on the NEW BGA package IC,
if so, then what do we do about the stencil of the whole PCB?
Do we still apply solder paste on the BGA part of the stencil or just skip that part?
Can someone tell me? Thanks!! :)
This is genius, thanks for the tip. I don't want to invest in a BGA station, specially when my intent is just to do some repairs as a hobbyst.
Ответитьgood method friend. I liked thank you
ОтветитьI don't know much about this, but I feel like I'm missing something... did the chip or the board already have solder balls on it? I've only seen this done as a reball, with a stencil and solder paste. Do brand new chips make it this simple?
ОтветитьTemperature and air valve?
Please reply me sir
"Here's a video on how to do something brilliant with just the bare minimum."
"To confirm this works, put it under your X-Ray machine"
Just kidding, this is a nice tip! :)
In real life repairs, there won't be enough space to place the tape around the chip. Modern boards are thronged with delicate components. The BGA stuff never gets respected by the ordinary repair technicians. It's just a rabbit hole to bankrupcy.
ОтветитьDead link on Xray. :(
ОтветитьThanks. Will try this method but all around.
Ответитьyou know what that what I can use those extra X-ray machines I have stashed in the shop.
ОтветитьI guess Pace does not have the X-ray Inspection any longer. could not find it.
Ответитьhow hot do the heat guns need to be? id love to replace the cpu on a laptop i have if only i had the necessary skills and equipment
ОтветитьI like the kapton tape Idea but testing by prying with the tweezers doesn't get it. Try a 1/2 mm pitch bga!
ОтветитьКритерий качественной пайки : постучать об стол - держится. Деграданты)
ОтветитьI need to solder a 0.283 mm pitch BGA package, 12 pins in 1.56 x 1.56 mm
ОтветитьDoes it help when heating the chip to be reballed or newly mounted, to put a small weight or light pressure? Thanks is the PCB a kit?
ОтветитьThere are plenty of smd components around BGA IC on an old circuit board so it s very difficult to use Kapton tape heheheheheh you failed man
ОтветитьBAD WORK please try to get better
ОтветитьIs it safe to remove bga using just hot air? Can it damage the board?
ОтветитьYou mentioned using leaded solder; when was this applied? Is the chip comes with leaded solder balls?
Ответитьthis is fail it is just the flux that hold the bga.
Ответитьwhat is that heat resistant tape called that protects other components while heat gunning bga chips? need to buy some, don't know what to look up.
ОтветитьGiven that Pace is supposed to be a respected supplier of industrial soldering equipment, this demo was abysmal. That practice board is highly unrepresentative of the density of components on a real board, where the kapton tape would not work. Then soldering by hot air alone, without heating the PCB (eg on a hotplate rework station) will subject the component to the maximum stress. And prodding and poking it while soldering almost guarantees messing up the melted balls. This does not do credit to Pace at all.
Ответитьan over $2k hot air station. yea sure. is it made out of freaking gold?!?!?!
ОтветитьLike! for the capton tape bumps.
ОтветитьThat's a genius idea 👌
