The temp rise seemed very fast which would be dangerous for the BGA. Does the digital hot air system run a proper profile or at least closer than just waving a bunch of heat at the work piece?

Why did they skip the step where they added the solder? Do you add flux? How much solder do you use? How do you know if you used too much or not enough? Seems like that the most important step.

I personally think the people who came up with the idea of a BGA chip (and chips like it) should be beaten to death with a stick! lol

BGA is an abomination! Especially when used on chips that normally operate super hot, like GPUs. The chips don't just fail from over heat, THEY FRIGGIN DESOLDER THEMSELVES FROM THE DAMN PCB!!!

So is this just a way of soldering BGAs? What about the operation of the chip? Are you sure you did not destroy it? You pushed its' temp from 25 celsius to 300 in a few seconds? Is that supposed to be the right way? Shouldn't you be gradually increasing its' temp rather than pushing it up to 300 celsius in a few secs in order to avoid any cracks in the structure of the ic?

This in interesting! I have no experience in BGA,
I am just curious ....
it seems that the "solder balls" are already on the NEW BGA package IC,
if so, then what do we do about the stencil of the whole PCB?
Do we still apply solder paste on the BGA part of the stencil or just skip that part?
Can someone tell me? Thanks!! :)

This is genius, thanks for the tip. I don't want to invest in a BGA station, specially when my intent is just to do some repairs as a hobbyst.

I don't know much about this, but I feel like I'm missing something... did the chip or the board already have solder balls on it? I've only seen this done as a reball, with a stencil and solder paste. Do brand new chips make it this simple?

In real life repairs, there won't be enough space to place the tape around the chip. Modern boards are thronged with delicate components. The BGA stuff never gets respected by the ordinary repair technicians. It's just a rabbit hole to bankrupcy.

Given that Pace is supposed to be a respected supplier of industrial soldering equipment, this demo was abysmal. That practice board is highly unrepresentative of the density of components on a real board, where the kapton tape would not work. Then soldering by hot air alone, without heating the PCB (eg on a hotplate rework station) will subject the component to the maximum stress. And prodding and poking it while soldering almost guarantees messing up the melted balls. This does not do credit to Pace at all.
