Lol i just bought my first mechanical watch. Fossil grant with whats supposed to be miyoto movement.
Its a very cheap watch but i wanted to test the waters with something that isnt expensive.
But i love the idea of watchmaking but seems like an expensive hobby either owning or working on them lol

Marshall, you’re an amazing watch restorer. Your encouragement for others to acquire the hobby was refreshing but I was already lost after you removed the back 🤪

I have a watch that needs fixing. Its not a Rolex but its a Elgin pocket watch that was made in 1899.Not working at the moment and too scared to take it into a repair shop. Might make a good video

Just imagine what would've happened if Rolex did the service. Every time you even looked at the bakerlite bezel insert my heart skipped a few beats. I was praying for no breaks and was rewarded by being a witness to your masterful work Marshall.

I loved watching this, but couldn’t help thinking- and please don’t take any offence.
Wouldn’t it have been better to have this restoration completed by Rolex?

A vintage Ferrari gets sent back to Maranello and the value increases.

I’m not suggesting that you didn’t do a fantastic job.

Wouldn’t a full restoration from Rolex increase the value significantly?

Genuinely curious.

I'm most surprised by how people inflate their value. Buddy, if you've got the skills, it doesn't matter whether you're fixing a Chinese or an original mechanism. But asking for $100,000 is just ridiculous—it feels like you're claiming to have done something no one else can replicate. In reality, for a professional, it's not about the numbers but about the ability to do a quality job.

I’m wearing this watch right now… (no Bakelite, unfortunately. Aftermarket parts have been used. Original jubilee, but very stretched out from my grandfather’s giant wrist) 1.) should I be worried about radiation poisoning!? 2.) would you be interested in fixing it!? No one (trustworthy) in my area will touch it.

Maybe I am being to anal but for a watch so valuable surely you would want to be using plastic screwdrivers as I noticed a few little scratches being made throughout the restoration. Amazing work and love watching your videos but just something that crossed my mind.

For those of you who don't know, relatively new and non-limited edition watches it's fine to finish the case and it won't decrease the value. If he were to refinish this one, however, it'd really decrease the sale price. A Pan Am Rolex from the 50's should look rough. lol.

Wow, I’m so impressed with your talented and precise work. You, sir, are not only nimble of fingers but also have a gift of conveying helpful information about each watch. Even though I’ll never be attempting to repair or even open a watch, I’m fascinated. I’m almost 80 years old and I found your channel and just discovered that my 50 year old son is also a big fan of yours. I can’t believe he actually texted me the other day and said, “Hey, Mom, have you seen this one?” Unbelievable! Thanks from mother and son in PA.
