AVOID THESE CABINS on Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas (and any Oasis Class Cruise Ship)

Just got off of Utopi and had a broad walk balcony and there is nothing wrong with them. I saw plenty of ppl sitting on their balconies ( clothed of course) having coffee, reading, playing cards, etc.), and I also mapped out my cabin from the Windjammer…no biggie! Balconies on a cruise ship or other places ( ie hotels) are not made for sitting out there wearing underwear, being naked or doing whatever- that’s what the inside of the cabin with curtains is for. Ppl should have some self respect and dignity. Fyi just booked another broad walk balcony!

We booked a 'guaranteed balcony' cabin for our upcoming RC cruise in January. I'm not expecting anything with an ocean view so we'll see how it goes

That stresses me out! Granted, I’m an introvert and get over stimulated in a bad way by too much human contact, but this seems like it would be stressful to anyone.

Got to see the ocean if I have a balcony. I agree with you. It would just be weird having a balcony and just "people watch"

I'm claustrophobic and would only cruise with an outside balcony.

When I am on a cruise I want to see the ocean. Be it in an outside cabin or balcony. Balcony to boardwalk would be a no go for me because of privacy and being more like a hotel balcony in a resort. I want to sit on the balcony and watch the ocean with a coffee, wine or cocktail😊

Yeah I would not stay in those balconies that face inward. If I am on a cruise, I would like a balcony that faces the water. The inward facing balconies feel like I am staying in an Embassy Suites hotel.

Why are ships becoming, amusement parks, city streets, etc. I love cruise ships just being ships, good views of the oceans, good food and great nightly entertainment.

We’ve been on ocean view balconies and have had neighbors look right around the wall while we sat enjoying our breakfast! There are no balconies that are private enough for drip drying from the shower or underwear sitting as far as we’ve ever seen! The only exception may be the infinite balconies because there is no looking around possible! You’re hilarious! 😅

I go ovean view balcony (unobstructed of course) I just love watching the waves and the fresh air... I work hard for my money so I splurge when I go on a cruise.

I'm with you Morgan i like being naked in my cabin but unfortunately i have the body of Buddha 😂 and other people don't want to see that so no i would definitely not book one of these cabins.

LOL I've never heard anyone say "Butt naked" (or NEKED)! All my life it's been "BUCK naked." Maybe "butt naked" is European?

My brother and sister-in-law are exclusively Royal Caribbean cruisers and they love the Central Park balconies. My brother is a very early riser so he goes down to one of the restaurants at the park and has coffee. When my sister-in-law opens the curtains on their balcony, he knows she's awake and the day has begun! lol

And...I am a bit surprised at nakedness on the balcony. If you're going to sit down on the patio chair, I hope you put a towel down first! 😉

Please tell us that you hopped up on that MSC bench below the window and mooned that tug boat!

I dont think i would ever book a boardwald balcony . I personally love to be on my balcony looking at the waves go by . An extra bonus is getting to watch the ship dock if it happens to be on my side of the ship 🎉

I love the Oasis Class ships, but doubt I would ever book a Boardwalk or Central Park balcony. RC would have to incentivize those cabins WAY more than they do. Ocean View balconies are not that much more expensive and they have always been worth the extra money to us!

I would prefer a CP or Boardwalk balcony to an inside ocean view tiny window. At least I can go outside of my stateroom.

We had a Central Park balcony and absolutely loved it! I mean, what are you doing on your balcony that you don’t want anyone to see? 😂. When we went inside and wanted privacy we closed the curtains. I really don’t see what the problem is 🤷‍♀️

morgan, i think i would only book these if i was originally in an INSIDE cabin and it was a free upgrade that came with a drinks package and some OBC. otherwise they can keep it.

I guess is better than interior room (without a window) but… personally I prefers ocean view or balcony facing the ocean. 😅

Just avoid MEGA CRUISE SHIPS altogether. They're like leaving a big city for... a bigger city. Who needs that?

Ocean-view balcony or interior. I've done interior with virtual balcony which I like as long as it's not too expensive. I've never booked an ocean view cabin without a balcony. I'll have to try it sometime.

Unless I’m trying to join the balcony club, what do I care? At a minimum I’m wearing a pair of boxers, so no different than being by the pool. Obviously some people do value more privacy on their balcony and one of the best things about modern cruise ships is the huge variety to choose from.

We had boardwalk balconies on the Allure & Harmony of the Seas. Like it for activities below us and when on balcony look left and see the ocean. We wear our robes when we have our breakfast on the balcony!🚢

I like the CP balconies -- but you have to treat them like an apartment balcony. And if you are not used to that style of living... yeah it might not be the best option.

Why are you specifying the Utopia? All Oasis class ships have these balconies.

I'm booked in a Central Park cabin for next month, so I'm excited to judge for myself. I'm not worried about lack of privacy but maybe I should be? Guess I'll find out in a few weeks 😅

No thanks Morgan, if I am going on a cruise I want to see the ocean not the inside of the ship. With this I would think the noise is also increased so nothing looks good about these.

Personally, I like Royal Caribbean’s big ships. The reason is I like Central Park and I like the boardwalk. I also like the state rooms in Central Park or the boardwalk. The good thing about Royal Caribbean is big ships is that you have choices if you prefer, you can do Ocean view balcony, if you like noise and if you like people watching, you can do those inside balconies I love them. I love having choices and that’s why I love Royal Caribbean big ships

We tried a Central Park balcony on Harmony. Knowing we wouldn’t have privacy but were hoping for peace and quiet. We got neither. The screeching loud music and activity from the pool deck ruined the Central Park experience.

I love a regular ocean-side balcony and likes the Central Park view balcony (for people watching) but yes I think and oceanview cabin would be preferred over the internal balcony. Especially for the price of the internal balcony since i can go on desk for some fresh air when needed. Sea/Ocean watching in the 'privacy' of my cabin or balcony with a cup of tea or a cocktail is the best.

I usually get outside view because I just don’t think the balcony is worth the price difference. However, we were docked in Dublin once and our view was a wall because we were on deck 2 lol.
