The video game jumscare I most distinctly remember is in Kirby's adventure where after you defeat king dedede who is set up to be the main villain the true antagonist nightmare appears from nowhere as the music changes from a peaceful tone to a frantic one and a dark orb emerges.

Every time there is a case like the Gonzales case i get both sad and angry. If mental health and the healthcare needed for mental issues were taken much more seriously and were much more accessible, this would likely have been prevented. The fact that he begged to get help and was still let down is also depressing. He could have gotten help and then went on to live a much better life, but he was let down and never got that help, leading to a killing spree and then later on him killing himself. It's frustrating to know that it could have been prevented but nothing was done about it.

How do you talk about jumpscares and not talk about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Leatherface coming through the door with a hammer is one of the single scariest shots ever. They actually told Hooper he couldn’t use music because it would be too intense, but that completely backfired because it isn’t signaled at all. It’s like the one in It Follows except that one doesn’t have the same payoff, turning into a chase.
