I'd read this story several times before, but this recording made me think about possible connections between this and Deleuzian concepts. Desiring-production, with the novelty items. Rhizomes, with the underground tunnels. I have no idea if that's a logical connection to make, but it's interesting. Excellent recording. One of my favorite Ligotti stories.

Outstanding reading of this (as ever!), thanks much for posting. Question: I know these things take a lot of time and effort, even for short stories...but would it be too early to raise a requesting hand for an eventual reading of 'My Work Is Not Yet Done'? (failing that, a reading of 'Conversations In a Dead Language' also seems like an ideal tale to be delivered in your voice). In any case--thanks again, and keep up the great work!

I wonder if that asshat Steven King read this before he wrote his insipid tower novels. Then again, Idk jack shit about Ligotti, just that I’m glad I found your channel, as this is some kind of a masterpiece of nightmare, with troubling undertones that echo and reverberate against parts of our own world we’d likely rather not see too closely.
