Im in kolkata india and I felt the tremors here, it was very mild here, I felt my chair wobble a bit and now im hearing this news, sends a chill down my spine.

No offense, but Nepal has earthquakes very often (based on data, 5 earthquakes in the last 7 years) and yet they still want to live in the area. You would think they would learn to build earthquake resistant housing of some sort...

More monitoring of Earthquakes with alarms would be advisable to try & prevent so many deaths 😢

It's so sad that this could mostly be prevented with buildings that can withstand earthquakes. It will take time for Nepal's economy to grow and building codes to be in line with more developed countries. So many lives will be saved.

When are all these earthquake prone areas going to build according to international standards for their regions? Those houses look 100s of years old and of ancient mud brick.
