Nice work. I'd need at least one pair of Ape's special glass to see those components.

Between you and KS6DAY, I'm going to have to add a FT-60 back into the fleet. Thought I outgrew it but I miss it so it looks like I'll be picking up one when I'm near HRO next week.

I made a tool for fitting nuts on potentiometers, long time back when I was in the television and radio trade. It was a flat strip of steel with the middle cut out to clear the shafts. In the 21st century I bet someone has 3D printed something similar. Nice mod!

the tool is called a spanner wrench. You could also use needle nose pliers

The knob of a UV5R will fit alot of those slotted nuts.

This is the video I needed to rationalize paying HRO to do this 😂

What was the dummy load you used for testing? I like the compact size. Thanks.. W4PIO

You do realize that you could very easily trash a radio or any electronic device by breaking those tiny parts off. Buy a small pin tip soldering iron at the very least.

I've used long needle nose p;iers for those slotted nuts

Jason, do you happen to know if modded radios can still be programmed with RT systems, or will it only program the original official frequencies? Thanks, Chuck

if your looking to the tool to remove those slotted nuts, search baofeng antenna tool.. it has 4 sides so it should fit most of those nuts..

Great video. I have seen several using the soldering iron, and that's what has kept me from doing the modification. I just followed along and completed my 2 ft60 mods in about 20 mins. Thanks for showing how easy this mod can be.

I have used a razor knife to do that, but I have heated the blade with a torch which helps soften the solder when you poke at the resistor/jumper.

I've always loved that radio. I've left it out in the rain, dropping on concrete several times... It just keeps on

I have seen pipes or cheap sockets ground down with tabs to fit into the slots. The socket fits over the shaft. Kind of a one special tool that will fit most of the shafts similar. They also make watch makers tools that are similar that can be used for the same thing. Thanks for the video. 73
