The recent film 'Mary Queen of Scot's' was the best laugh I've had in ages. I had to check my history books, Lord Randolph was a black man, really, I can't be sure but I think I saw a Pakistani man, I could only watch 5 minutes of it until I realised that history was being changed in front of my very eyes. Henry V111 would be turning in his grave lol.

I see history is being rewritten to suit the point of view of activists.

People should read the memoir that the film "12 years a slave" is based on. Mcqueen altered aspects of that to make it fit more with modern superficial concepts of slavery as well.

Britains population during the second world war in the early 1940s and late 1940s was still 99.999% White.
This movie director Steve McQueen (not the White movie star from the 1960s) but a Black film director, probably looked through thousands of photographs and found just one photograph showing a mixed race kid in war time London, and tried to make out London was multiracial and multicultural in the 1940s when it was far from that, the rest of Britain was similar at this time and still was for a few decades after.
In 1961 London was still 98% White.

There is a US Army film made during the war, advising soldiers about English people and society. It features Burgess Meredith. One point he stressed strongly was the absence of racial prejudice in the UK. He uses the example that an English family may invite a black man to dinner without a second thought and warns soldiers to guard their behaviour amongst the British public.

If they made a film about the reaction to mass immigration in Notting Hill in the late 1950s/1960s, that would show that there hadn’t always been a large black population in the UK since (according to the BBC) Roman times.

My father was born in London in 1933, his home was bombed flat in 1940 during the London blitz. He did not see a single black person in London until he returned from serving in the army well into the 1950's.

My mum drove an ambulance right through the war in East London. She saw some sights I can tell you. And if she was still here, (God rest her soul) she'd definitely have something to say about rewriting our history.

I’m black British, haven’t seen the movie and I’m cringing already 😂 we know there were black folks brought to British shores by force, persuasion and choice since antiquity, but few and far between, even up to the WW2 era. My man Steve went over the top with this one. I just don’t believe a director of Steve’s award winning ability could’ve gone so woke with this story. Just stop it man, please STOP, because it doesn’t reflect historical facts and context.

Steve McQueen? He's even stolen someone else's name. My mum and her siblings were evacuated. One of my uncles was made to sleep in a bath, another aunt was made to sleep in the dark and ended up with a life of mental health..

Period dramas have never been the same thing as history. It's fiction, not documentary.
