After getting hooked on Yanxi Palace, I found Royal Fiest and Arsenal MA--have watced them repeatly, basically due to Xu Kai. Tried other dramas but they all seem the same and mediocre. Xu Kai is next level, and uniquely bless as an actor. Im an old grandma in the US and I adore him. Also, thanks to the producers of these dramas. I really appreciate the historic perspective !

Tian Jing is better actress than Zhao Luci. Sorry but Zhao Luci is not beautiful compared to other Chinese actresses. She has not the standard features of beauty. Without make up she will look like any other normal liking woman

Hu Kay plays quite good but he is not the best actor compared to others

Movies and Tv shows are also known as Arts. Sometimes an a decade we find some good artists with the talent to tell stories to us like pure symphony. The effects use to emphasize emotions and feelings in this show are totally impressive. I could literally sense arrows piercing my back or sorrow in my heart. Surely they need the best actors to ideally transpose it to the screen. For that I can't think of another face than Xu Kai and Jing Tian. The debut is a little low pace but it worth keeping watching.

Xu Kai is the reason I watch Chinese dramas, I was hooked after watching him in The Story of Yanxi Palace. He’s an amazing actor and in my opinion he’s in a league of his own, no one comes close to him. Since August 2024 I have watched all his dramas and movies except two that are not available with English subtitles. This is an awesome series and I love the soundtrack, the songs are amazing. I’m about to watch it for the second time. 🩷🩷🩷🩷
