I still loved how later in the movie Mississippi managed to miss his target with a sawn-off double-barrel shotgun.
ОтветитьMexican bitches aren't happening. And when you start in about me lying about being gay, I'm just going to explain how I'm not accountable to you again.
ОтветитьOh shit. Daaammmnn!
Ответить"You with the hat." In a room full of cowboys wearing hats. 😂
ОтветитьWhen the knife brings itself to the gunfight...
ОтветитьHoward Hawks like the story so much, he made into a movie 3 times with John Wayne: Rio Bravo; El Dorado; and Rio Lobo.
ОтветитьMy favourite actor ever.
ОтветитьChristopher George looks a lot cooler sitting in a Jeep with a ma deuce on the back.
ОтветитьI love how people in movies die as soon as a weapon touches them. That knife penetrated the lower left portion of the rib cage. The thrower was damn lucky to have it go, apparently, in between the man's ribs. The organs inside the rib age are well protected by it. That's why it's called a cage! But at the place where the knife penetrated the man, it might have pierced the bottom of his left lung, but there's not much else there that could cause death. Certainly not instantaneous death as depicted here. Oh, the man might have bled out, eventually, if that's all the kid in the black hat did. But in reality, to kill a man, you would need to throw the blade and hope it hits a vital spot, then jump him, pull the blade out and stick it back in a much more lethal spot. His carotid artery or straight into his heart, perhaps. Then the man would be dead. The result of this knife throw would leave the man wounded and probably in pain, but there's no way he would have died that quickly!
ОтветитьRest in peace, Charlie Higgins.
ОтветитьA fantastic scene, but I'll be honest, about the only decent scene in the movie.
ОтветитьOne hell of a classic movie
ОтветитьI have an idea for a remake of this film, and in fact i tried to pitch it to a film company online but it turned out to be one of those programs that you have to pay to get a chance, no way. My remake would have some differences in plot, primarily in the end.
ОтветитьChristopher George's character was so great, he actually sided with Mississippi.
ОтветитьYeah, Charlie stand up.....OK fall down. These are very obedient henchman!
ОтветитьEntertaining watchable film. Could do without the 'Injun fighter' stuff and that James Cahn 'Chinese' immitation. Great theme music, the poetry verses add an accent to the characters and I you can't beat the 'off the wall 'shotgun Mares Leg' Cahn aquires.
ОтветитьEl Dorado?
ОтветитьDon't you just love Hollywood, where a guy takes a knife to the chest and just stops living immediately
ОтветитьCharlie was dead as soon as James said it shouldn't have taken four of them. He was on his own at that point.
ОтветитьAn important lesson here too. You might think you have the drop on a guy with a knife if you're holding the gun, but keep in mind that he might just be able to throw it very well...
ОтветитьGood theater, but not very realistic. A stab even to the heart is a long way from a no reflex kill. Guy could have, should have put all six rounds into him before he went down
Ответить"It shouldn't have taken four of you." -that's what she said
ОтветитьThey don’t make em like that anymore do they fellas?
ОтветитьWhat made McCloud a great character is that yes he was the bad guy but he was not evil. Unlike the villains in the other Rio movies he was not sadistic and would not hurt someone for the saking of hurting someone. You could tell he had nothing for contempt for Bart Jason and when Mitchum rifle whips him,he is actually smiling.
ОтветитьGood old fashioned entertainment I miss those times. 👍
ОтветитьThose guys at the table sure didn't think much of Charlie
ОтветитьI’m really pissed that I didn’t realize for YEARS that Mississippi and Buddy’s. Dad are the same person. If I had known that then I would’ve looked into what I could do to meet him because I’ll never have the chance to meet John Wayne but I want to meet anybody that I still care that has a chance to work with them. I would love to meet Bruce Dern but I doubt that’s gonna happen and I am seriously running out of Time. Plus from what I’ve heard he really hates when people bring up the fact that he’s the SOB that killed John Wayne and shot him in the back despite the fact that John Wayne did warn him that if you go through with this, you will be known as the SOP that shot John way to the back for the rest of your life.
ОтветитьAny reason why that young man from the east is wearing leather chaps like a man working herd in heavy brush?
ОтветитьLove the Batman style music of this movie.
ОтветитьYea. Like, a knife can kill stone dead!??
ОтветитьThere aren't movies like this anymore , that a father can take his son to .
ОтветитьThis was probably my favorite moment in the film, primarily because of McLoud siding with Mississippi on the fact that Charlie was very much in the wrong.
ОтветитьEl Dorado! One of the greatest John Wayne movies
Ответить.... he brought a knife to a gun fight?
ОтветитьJohn Wayne - America's # 2 asshole. Asshole # 1 is, of course, Donald "The wig" Trump.
ОтветитьSonny Corelone

Ответитьrio lobo, the second time remake of Rio Bravo
Ответить“I’m curious to see how he does this, and it really shouldn’t have taken four of you.”. Great lines written for another one of JW’s best. And James Caan was special in this one, and you can see he was going to be special for years to come.
ОтветитьElf's dad in a knife fight.
ОтветитьThe bitch%rat calling the name princey:period
ОтветитьStand up junky
ОтветитьChristopher George (1929-1983) as the leader of the gang, great actor, later died of heart failure.
ОтветитьThe type of movie they don't make anymore, one for mature men.
And with VERY rare exceptions I haven't seen a decent Western since John Wayne died, the Duke understood the genre better than anyone else.
Good movie. The soundtrack was disappointing. Nelson Riddle. Felt I was watching a long episode of Batman.
ОтветитьI love John Wayne films and I am 34 years old. El Dorado is one of my top favorites.
ОтветитьThe bad guy had his standers and was not to Happy to hear that it took 4 men to kill one old man.
ОтветитьThe more I watch this movie, the more interested I get in McLeod. He's a major antagonist in the film, but not really a villain.
He's a gun for hire with no scruples about who he goes to work for. But he still has a code of honor of some kind. But what's most fascinating is his fatalism. He knows and accepts that his career can only end one way, and even at the end of the movie he's completely unfazed by his defeat, even AMUSED by it.
This movie > Rio Bravo
