Erosion worsens at Rapidan Dam

Geee wiz. I wish we had $500 BILLION extra dollars that we could have used to build newer dams, bridges, roads and for the poor to get better housing and careers. But I guess the top people needed it more than we do. We all know why thry had to clean the money by first running it through Ukraine. So it can get sent to their friends without having to account for any of it. There are BILLIONS not accounted for. BILLIONS!

They really built a dam in straight up dirt than added a river. This was 100% the fault of the people who made it. That was extremely dumb and any 5 year old whos made a sand castle knows about erosion from water.

I’m thankful for the time I spent smoking blunts on this bridge. It’s a true Mankato Gem everyone loves. ❤ proud of the dam holding up under this amount of pressure. One of the greatest dams ever built. First hydroelectric dam built actually. This is historical.

Having watched this for 2 days now, the next critical item is the sandstone abutment right where the river turns. If that abutment is eroded away, look for the east bridge pylon to be eroded away next, and perhaps that span of the bridge plunge into the river. There is very little to stop moving water + rock sediments due to the sand-blasting effects.

It must be global warming! Quick give more tax money to the government to make sure nothing happens to anything ever!

Permanent structures should never be built by rivers, dams, in flood plains, etc. When will humans learn its better for everyone to work with mother nature than against her? I feel bad for the family, but they obviously knew a huge potential danger was in their back yard.
