I'm sick of seeing people talk about the effects of weed without first talking about what leads people to a dependency. Mental health is the overwhelming factor that needs addressing, because simply quitting weed to replace that dependency with something else doesn't magically fix mental health or trauma history.
ОтветитьI think the first thing to understand is that no one can "give you a license to get high and enjoy my life" Either you smoke or you dont. Need to own up to the decisions we are making
ОтветитьBeen trying to quit for around a month now, and as much as I miss it and love the feeling, I know now that it is not beneficial for me in the long run. I became dependent on it and doing it multiple times a day. As soon as you quit after using frequently and consistently for a while, it takes quite the toll on you
ОтветитьI feel like recreational cannabis use is generally not an issue IF you’re already happy with your life and contempt. Its biggest issue is it won’t make your life worse but it’ll become a barrier to making it better.
ОтветитьThank you for this very enlightening, informative and guiding video. I loved it. That being said, I'm gonna go and get drunk now. (In my defense, that at least means I go outside, so its like... touching grass-adjacent 😇)
ОтветитьLuckily they don't fuck with weed that much in the Netherlands. Yes, they try some stuff to get better weed, but something with a higher THC value is not something you'll find being promoted here. This really sounds like an American problem.
Furthermore! It's hard to know what is true, cause a lot of other doctors are talking about how it's not dangerous and that it can be really good for you. In my experience it depends on the person. I have/had a few friends that became really fucked up because of weed, even one friend has Catatonia thanks to his drug use and now every time he smokes it's only getting worse. But most of my friends who smoke can handle themselves, smoke everyday for the last 15 years and haven't had a single problem.
It's a similar situation with me.its not helping in the progress that i want to make but it helps me with my depression
ОтветитьVery good video, I am glad you didn't give in to the pressure to message the data into the answer a wider audience might want. I am a junior doctor in Australia where prescription cannabis can now be prescribed as a treatment for anxiety, depression and insomnia and am yet to see a patient who has benefited in those cases. I don't think it should be criminalised but prescribing it gives it a sense of safety to so many people.
ОтветитьI've been wanting to step away from the reefer because it's too expensive to build a tolerance, but I also enjoy it, and it does help with my MDD, ADHD, and PTSD. This video helped me set a goal to backpedal to once a week, or only during an episode. Great video, Dr. K!
ОтветитьYou seem to disregard the benefit of improved subjective anxiety experience with cannabis as and end point. The treatment of the anxious state itself is the outcome we are treating which is inherently subjective, whether that translates into benefits in social, professional areas etc is a separate consequence of that that may or may not follow for a range of different reasons. Appreciate your work
ОтветитьIt would have been nice if Dr. K also compared it to "legal" over the counter substances like tobacco or alcohol so at least those out there using it don't walk away thinking they are doing any more damage to themselves relative to "legal" substances. Also Dr. K you should do a couples therapy collab with Vedal987 and his AI streamer creation Neuro-Sama.
ОтветитьWell those pharmaceutical companies are look very evil, Im pretty sure that they are doing the same with other addictive drugs, there was a debacle about the amphetamines used as drug to lose weight.
ОтветитьAlprazolam, pot, smoking, … I’m just three addictions in a trench coat
ОтветитьAs someone going through a divorce at a young age, I thought using weed would help but honestly I found that I was getting nowhere, and just sitting with the pain motivates me to move forward, even though it sucks.
ОтветитьI'd love to see a video like this but for psychedelics. Classical psychedelics are serotonin agonists so maybe are more useful for psychiatric conditions
ОтветитьSmoking daily for over 10 years and stopped for 5 weeks now. Its nice but it keeps you content with everything. You dont improve anymore, all is fine as long as you get your weed. Short term its great! Long term it keeps you numb and not caring about lots of stuff. I dont crave it anymore now that im out of the daily smoking routine. Also got tired of needing to have it at all times, example: not having weed at home after work so now you're at work thinking where you're gonna buy it when you finised working because no way you're gonna go home and just be sober.
ОтветитьBut the brain and the mind are the same.
Neuroscientists and sleep scientists already show that drugs of any kind aren't good for us, specifically as they destroy our sleep quality.
Im not surprised that objectively ignoring your problems to subjectively feel satiated, is not a good alternative to quantify it as better for your health.
Marijuana boosts morale, a boosted morale has other consequences. Starting an objective in poor morale conditions vs Good morale condition is worth testing.
I use sativex tks to my muscles being fugged with MS but i see some Changes That i hate. And About sleep i usually take its before 17 and IT kinda helps. Kinda! But i hate the constant high and especially my memory being affected Long Term. Just Puting Out there for Others.
ОтветитьSo long story short, its a placebo. You want it to help with problem X so it helps a little.
ОтветитьI'm in the clear then? Once pr month or so, something to take the edge off, so I can kick back and relax. Or to enhance an experience 🤔
ОтветитьHighly informative work Dr K , i can confirm that it does mess up the dopaminergic architecture big time and clearly the risks outweigh the short term benefits !
ОтветитьDr K says all that with a straight face when there's joint smoldering in the background, what a legend. 420
ОтветитьIt is so true that depression and anxiety create the potential for weed abuse, now when I meditate more often and undergo therapy for over six months, I don’t feel the need to use it so often and to have such large doses as previously and because of this, I believe that I can Use it safely and in moderation, as long as it doesn’t become a habit and isn’t part of a regular use
ОтветитьOk now legalize magic mushrooms and do the same science based review.
ОтветитьFascinating! This really changed my (outdated) understanding, thanks! (I wasn't using, so I may be more willing to change my mind ^^)
Ответить"(snicker)the data doesn't support it" doesn't mean it's not true, to quote Sagan "the absence of evidence is not evidence of the absence"... u sceerd of a little weed bro? you're just a light-weight! it's chill, ill tell you the side effects, you laugh until you wake up and see this world for what it is, and then you cry, sometimes from horror, sometimes from sheer beauty. Trees and Mushrooms are the realness behind the magic of spirituality, the inspiration behind art. we owe our culture to its powers which heal us and help us express our experience. how do you dare compare a natural cultivated staple(food/medi/industry) crop to a contrived derived pharma concoction aimed to addict people?.. that's wild. when was the last time you seen the a "mona lisa" painted on a pill bottle? (for ppl that don't know the word canvas means 'made of hemp')
- Dr. K next topic should be how dogs are unnatural and the dangers of having a pet. lol Mr toss-the-Baby-with-the-bath-water over here... <3
This makes me feel like the psychiatrist that prescribed me a medical prescription is lying to me as they have repeated it's "very safe" to use after I mentioned concern about your videos on weed
ОтветитьBe old enough and use it to enhance pleasurable experiences, relax, reduce physical chronic pain, meditate, or gain a new perspective on things. Avoid using it regularly or as a way to address behavioral or mental health issues.
ОтветитьDefinitely weed is cope
ОтветитьI think anyone under 25 years old should not take it. Also, I've noticed, males act differently than females when they're high. Males act more dopey ! 😂
ОтветитьMy uncle started smoking weed one day... since then, he lost his job, his wife, and 3 kids. He developed schizophrenia, and is now homeless; bouncing between living with relatives and wandering the streets aimlessly for weeks at a time, surviving off government income.
ОтветитьI'm absolutely one of those people who uses it to help me sleep, but I take what I affectionately call "tolerance breaks" I'm on one now.
Ответитьthanks for the research Dr. K. i had no hopes with this to begin with xD its okay. its dope that we can get some insight in how it looks at a clinical way, and thats a lot already!
ОтветитьI love my isotretinoin but I know if I keep taking it without checkups and periods off of it, I'd kill my liver. Drugs have side effects. What's new? 🤷
ОтветитьI have ASD, and form my experience it heavily depends on the type, Some type make be miserable while other makes me happy and jolly. people have said i was happier.
What i also found the wrong time make me feel shit so I smoke more and i feel little better, but the right kind 8 can manage so much easier.
you can't break something that is already broken
ОтветитьNice video. My guess is that people simply try to find reasons why marijuana is good in order to fight against criminalization and stigmatization. I'm older and use weed once a week just for fun and to chill.
ОтветитьMaybe, people who take MJ, like the feeling it gives ya. It makes life feel a little fluffier . 😊
ОтветитьLet’s talk about mushrooms
ОтветитьWhen I have weed I smoke it till it’s gone ngl
ОтветитьDr. K is sadistic. Every video, this psychopath insists on calling me out on my bullshit. This is cyber-bullying cause, I am losing excuses with every video post. This is not fair.
ОтветитьHe's right yalls. I used to be pretty pro weed, but when i started using on my own outside of a social setting. It just became another escape or way of avoidance. Felt very similar to competitive gaming to me... the more you do it, the less enjoyable it is, and it just becomes a dopaminergic way to waste a few hours (or more)
Edit: the one major positive thing I'd add that dr k didnt rly touch on is that it can help immensely with short term emotional pain... just got to make sure to not let it be a habit
Medications for all psychiatric problems are no long term solutions. But they may help combined with self-work. If one is too anxious, too depressed to work on himself - give him a shoot to help him get started. Not instead but in combination, where drugs helps to work on real reasons for long term issues... but then I believe most long term issues are based on the fear of something. So once medications (be it marijuana or whatever) release pressure one is less incentivized to confront his fears... so it may not even work in this way.
ОтветитьGreat video! I was thinking on this last night after i said outloud id been smoking since 17 with no more than a three day break. Not even getting "high" anymore but simply in a routine.
I do have a slipped disk in my lower spine and struggle with appetite. But these sound more and more like excuses rather than reasons.
Beyond that I've always relied on it to "let go" of the worlds emotions or people around me and their feelings. It builds up in me to a point i either want to explode or implode. Which is another form of "why meditate when i can roll a blunt"
All in all hella called out but not in a bad way. Always more work to be done 😌
Thanks for telling me the reasons I realised already. Helps me move on.
ОтветитьLmao there were literally 420 comments when I watched this
