anyone who knows what engagement based matchmaking is and has played the game long enough knows that riot denying they use it is them just lying to everyone's face, let's be honest. people have even datamined evidence that loser's queue exists and that they keep track of a ton of player data to optimize their matchmaking's addictiveness.
to tl;dr it tho, while some games are even, in most games, one team is supposed to win and the other is supposed to lose. which teams these are all depends on how it'll affect the player behaviors on each side. fun or fairness isn't what they care about, it's whatever keeps the most people playing for the longest amount of time. elo isn't meant to gauge someone's skill, it's meant to dangle a carrot in front of a player's face. point this out and both riot shills and big ego players will act like you need to play like a challenger to get out of gold, and just shrug off games that are clearly impossible to win (or on the flip side, free wins that are handed to bad players).
if you want proof of all this, just buy a new level 30 account for like 5$ (they're not hard to find), and on said account, do whatever you want in ranked, but make sure if you lose, you don't play another game on it until the next day, or even a couple days later. this will show the system you don't tolerate losses well, and it won't be long before you get awarded with free wins left and right. and if you're winning, spam games, showing wins make you play a lot more. do this and you'll see there's a reason every high elo streamer has multiple accounts, they already intuitively know all this. that oftentimes, it's easier to just start climbing on a new account than to grind on an account that's hardstuck and in perma loser's queue. it's why it's pretty common for a streamer/high elo player's alt account to outrank their main one.

the game would actually be so much better if the matchmaking was literally designed to avoid other roles losing if you've lost more than 3 games in a row. like Tylers bots getting giga gapped 6 games in a row is insane. if your botlane has been gapped 3 times in a row next game riot should just give you a bot duo who's on avg like 4 ranks above the enemy bot at least + have won their last two games and the enemy bot lost their last game.
