ОтветитьWelcome back 👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьThe only one I don't agree with is FDR. Other than that I'd say good list.
ОтветитьThis video is bully.
ОтветитьHmmm, Lincoln as a great president depends on your point of view, as some of his actions were very questionable. He pressured the south into attacking Ft. Sumter to look better in front of the Northern citizenry. He also supported Total war, which was the process that every single aspect of society should be involved in war. Lincoln commanded Union generals like Sherman to use total war. This led to the burning of Atlanta, but not just the burning. There were many accounts that women, many African American, were raped by Union soldiers. Sherman and his troops then proceeded to burn a 60 mile wide swath of land to the Atlantic, known as Sherman's March to the Sea, while singing the Battle hymn of the Republic. Then, they went North through South and North Carolina doing the same thing. All of this Lincoln, Sherman, and many other union generals supported. McClellan was one of the few who didn't support this. There was nothing really civil about the " civil war ". There is a very good book named, 'The "Uncivil War" ', by Leonard (I forget his last name XD). He calls the war the "War for Southern Independence", which I think is a much more proper name. The south wanted independence from a totalitarian Government.
I know the list is your opinion, but I do believe your view on Lincoln is very biased. I thought the same about Lincoln as you, until I read the book a few months ago. It really opened my eyes to the truths about the war that was covered up by the history I learned and am still learning in school. The fact that Lincoln went to war to keep the Union together may have been his reasons until the Emancipation Proclamation, but it honestly looked that he was going to war to punish the south. He wanted to readmit the southern states as painlessly as possible, but by then the Radical Republicans were already splitting the southern states into military districts, and keeping control of Congress for sometime.
- sincerely, a fellow history buff
