How does the matte medium stack up against frog tape?
ОтветитьThank you so much. I wished I had watched your video last week f=before starting my latest project but you are the man, cheers.
Ответитьvery useful!
ОтветитьCan anyone speak to how well this technique works if you’re masking on top of a highly textured layer of paint?
ОтветитьThank you for the excellent demonstration and advice! This was a really good video. :D
ОтветитьThis is awesome and just what I was looking for. Thanks!!
ОтветитьI’ve been looking for a solution like this. Thank you!!
ОтветитьI have already used this masking tape and i have not got straight and clean lines. Now how to fix that ?
Ответитьthis tips is gold thanks
ОтветитьThere is a very thin rice paper tape from Japan called Nichiban, comes in different widths and adhesive formulations that is specifically designed for this application. I've used it with and without medium, both with excellent results. I like the white version because becsuse it is semi transparent, you can see line work through it. I sometimes cut irregular shapes into the masked edges to follow curves. It takes very little pressure to cut the thin tape. I also agree with another comment about putting down several coats of gesso and sanding between. That extra smooth surface really helps the tape edge make good contact with the paint surface, and the built up surface offers protection if you are cutting it.
ОтветитьYo, I am repairing/repainting acrylics work corners/edges over previous and missing/worn areas. Found matching paint. Need to tape off edges so as not to get new paint on front of painting. Will this gold stuff first but what tape is best to rip off old paint etc. ?? Mixed recs online.
ОтветитьAnoreksja :(
ОтветитьWhat brand is that yellow masking tape? That tape did a pretty amazing job on it's own.
ОтветитьDo this on a textured wall?
ОтветитьAwesome! Thank you!
ОтветитьOMG dude this is going to help me so much! I'm doing two landscapes on 30" x 40" canvases so tvis is gonna help tremendously dude. 😊
ОтветитьWhy did this pop up on my feed only today? 😥 One day after yet another botched job? 😨 This is HUGELY useful and thank you so much. An amazing tip. 🙏🫶
P.S. I just checked out your channel. You are 🔥! Respect.
Thanks man.
ОтветитьWill it work on wood surfaces?
ОтветитьThank you for this! 🙏🏾
ОтветитьSo it's like the caulk trick then.
ОтветитьOk 👍 but what if I don’t have that stuff 😮????
ОтветитьDid you just paint over the matte medium, that was partially on the canvas as you spread out the matte medium?
ОтветитьYou changed the game! Thank you!!!
ОтветитьI'm in the middle of a painting so It's too late to add the matte medium sad face. This a good video though. I did learn something. Thank You for sharing. I subscribed.
ОтветитьGreat tip! Thanks!
ОтветитьI've heard of this being done but this is a great demonstration showing the difference. Thanks for sharing❤
ОтветитьHonestly, as a commercial and residential painter, I hate using transparent caulk constantly. It's just a hassle, for 16oz it's a bit expensive in comparison to a cheap tube of caulk, but the ease of use is where i'm looking at making the most money with it. get a small brush, cup and just get that tape covered, Great insight from a different painting prospective.
ОтветитьFun fact: My paper just ripped of when I tried to remove the tape tonight...💀
I even spilled black paint on my other drawing, literally tonight was exhausting.
And yeah I am a beginner and they were my first and second drawings.
Thank youuuuu
ОтветитьTy so much!
ОтветитьThank you so much for creating this video and resolving the problem that I’ve been racking my brain over with trying to get the clean, perfect lines. Love your video so helpful. I really appreciate that. I found you. The Tyra clip was hilarious. ❤❤❤
ОтветитьThis is more about clean edges than straight lines, but very useful information nonetheless.
ОтветитьHere's a trick, Use a piece of sponge to apply colour, and apply perpendicular to canvas.. You get smooth application, and clean edges.
ОтветитьThe interruptions every few seconds, which I presume are supposed to be entertaining, are ridiculous and distracting.
ОтветитьThank you. Just did this for an American flag. Came out great!
ОтветитьSuper helpful
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video I used a plastic card as well and worked great when I didn't have no Matte medium
ОтветитьThank you sir, so I am wondering once you put the matt medium and it is dried, then on top of that we put red paint, why wouldn't the red paint bleed into the matt medium under the tape? i mean it it another colour, it could, couldn't it?
Ответитьgreat tip ! (even after 3 years 😀) THNX. 👊
ОтветитьCan you use this with vinyl ? Like cricut machine stencil vinyl ?
ОтветитьLove this new tip!
ОтветитьYou should have used the same paint for no medium and with medium
ОтветитьExcellent Job,, finally a real tip that works.
ОтветитьThank you so very much. This really answered my prayers.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьLearned this trick 40+ years ago. Taught it to my painting and design students. Bleeding is common when taping edges on a fabric like canvas.
Thanks for sharing.
Also, i believe Scotch and 3M are the same company. Painters tape (the blue) and masking tape have different degrees of adhesives.
Love this! I need to paint straight lines along a spherical paper lantern. What kind of tape do you recommend for this type of applications?
ОтветитьI wonder if mod podge will work well enough 🤔
ОтветитьI subscribed because the usage of random TV clips. Especially the DAYUUUUM
ОтветитьThe blue tape wrinkles when hit with either the medium or paint, causing leaks and blurs
Ответить
