Several years ago I and my brother were working a two man sawmill in the mountains of no calif, late in the evening we saw eyes looking in on us ,well the next morning we found tracks of a mother cougar and two almost yearlings right where we saw the eyes !!!!
ОтветитьThis is the kinda guy you get when you've lived in California to long, a nice man but not fully aware.
ОтветитьCircle of life.
Thanks for taking the time to create this video.
you have not seen the two-legged cougar we here bear trap is not strong enough to keep them in darts doesn't stop them from hurting the wilf officers known in the area wild is on the run too lol i have a cousin who one of the most damaged one out here sod it a long weekend victims and how many out their lol
ОтветитьInteresting
ОтветитьCrows will clean a gut pile up pretty fast too .
ОтветитьI find all kinds of foot prints in my sawdust pile bet never a complete deer .
ОтветитьHaven’t seen a coyote for a while? They’re one of the stealthiest animals on earth. You may not have seen them, but you can bet they’ve seen / smelled (no offense intended) you.
ОтветитьThanks for the story!
ОтветитьA Cat's gotta eat. It says something good that the doe is lying there as you go by. I guess she trusts you.
ОтветитьI love people who say poor deer. Didn’t deserve that. But it’s ok for the lion or bear to starve to death?? Nature is a wonderful thing.
ОтветитьI LIK THIS DUDE HIS VOICE IS ALMOST LIKE MARLIN PERKINS OF MUTUAL OF OHMAS WILD KINGDOM
ОтветитьDude you make great videos
ОтветитьFellow reminds me of wildlife photographer Marty staffer
ОтветитьDudes about to blow up
ОтветитьWhat state are you in?
ОтветитьJust nature
ОтветитьThank you for your video very useful...i like the forest.
ОтветитьI don't trust cougars either,,, the two or four legged kind.
ОтветитьYou named yours Betsy, carry it in case of a cougar and I named mine sweet lips, after a cougar I met.. interesting..
ОтветитьDo you carry a handgun when alone in the forest?
ОтветитьHow can you be confident that you are safe while making the video?
ОтветитьIt be aggravating to record yourself walking down the hill, then have to go back and get the camera to record different views… respect for putting together a story for us
ОтветитьCougar attacks may be rare but mosquito attacks are all too common.
ОтветитьSimilar situation happened to me. Found a deer carcass 50 yards behind our home. It was picked CLEAN and all in one piece with no intestines nearby. We live secluded and have 3 large dogs for early warning and protection from the cougars and bear. None of our dogs sounded off or made a fuss and I’d bet the carcass had been there for at least two days. How many times do you think that cougar came back to snack? It’s scary how stealthy these large predators are. Once I found the carcass and showed it to the dogs they carried its bones around for weeks!! They aren’t earning their keep.
Ответитьthat aint' no creek nor a crick, that's a stream. Great videos, the bear attacking the hornets nest brought me here!
ОтветитьI was hoping for the other kind of cougar, guess I am on the wrong website for that?
ОтветитьHe said " notta 40 something woman type cougar "....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. sorry to hear one less friend at the sawmill. But that’s the circle of life in the wilderness. I grew up in wva down by the crick .😂
Good video, take care
you explain realistically what has been called a "preyscape" very well.
ОтветитьThe cycle of life is fascinating. I can imagine how nutrient-rich the soil in areas where a kill has been made and/or consumed. Interesting video. Thank you for sharing @Wilson Forest Lands. Lovely little doe at the end! :)
ОтветитьDid someone say something about squirrel dumplings 😂.
ОтветитьYou might want to bring Remy along with Betsy
ОтветитьLions and tiger's and bears OH MY! As an employer, is it not your job to keep the night shift safe?🤔
ОтветитьThanks for this posting. I appreciate your light hearted, practical commentary. Where I grew up in East Multnomah County if it wasn't a river it was a crick. However, in describing a small stream near Estacada we always call it Eagle Creek.
ОтветитьMy cougars are on SSI now
ОтветитьWe had mtn. lion(s) take a couple of deer, found the remains pretty close to the house, took pics for proof -- once, even got an "action" shot, (dust, a tail and leg, moving quickly) on trail cam.
I've been out working in our woods and had all the birds go quiet, even felt the hairs on the back of my neck get prickly, but never, ever felt afraid of being attacked. Felt like something was sizing me up and figuring I wasn't worth the bother. I called out that I knew it was watching me and it should move along; after a couple of minutes, the birds started up again and that was that. No muss, no fuss. No need for a firearm. But that's just me, you're in a much wilder area than we are.
Another "likeroo." Excellent use of the Monty Python "huge teeth and great long claws..." reference; and thanks for the rest of the story.
Cheers from Linn County; Good Day.
Very interesting. Was it the viscera/remains discovery that first piqued your curiosity to investigate? Your sleuthing very much aligns with the cat kill discoveries I've made on our property - find something, then go looking. I did manage to get one on camera dragging a Doe to where is was mostly consumed. I was amazed how quickly a cougar can eat most of a deer and how the coyotes clean up the mess.
ОтветитьLook, a squirrel! 🤣
ОтветитьWow, be safe
