The main issue with playing axis minor in BICE is Germany can drag you down so hard.

The way I defended as China was: only build uniforms and rifles (maybe support eq. for shovel boys) and cav horse eq (which I think you need for HQ), I only recruited barebones irregulars, for focuses take sino-german cooperation (gives you 100% research speed towards ww1 doctrines), spam ww1 doctrines, then I took the monetary reform, then military reform, after that I took national defense council so I could take the big rear plan when the war broke out and evacuate the factories, then it doesn't matter as much, you should be able to get lure them in and dare to die corps early into the war. For strategy - defend at the river in shandong (you won't be able to hold for long), then retreat behind the big river and connect the line with the river that runs through communists and cycle units, you should be able to hold, IMPORTANT: build a railway to connect your supply hubs behind the river, otherwise you will get attrition, I also kept a general's worth of units as a quick response force to naval invasions, dont let them get a port, don't forget that Japan will demand Indochina, so have troops ready for that (I had 4 generals, 1 field marshal, less didnt seem to be enough), don't forget about the french treaty port.

I like the complexity of BICE. It is, I guess, the only mod that brings electricity, food, and other elements into the game. But I really don't like cheating, and this mod cheats even more than the base game. That's something I can't accept.
If you know something similar, I would appreciate any suggestions.
