Games from ten years ago look MUCH better than yesterdays release (it runs 720p internally to get smooth 30fps)
ОтветитьThe weight of the developers sins are stored in the extra gigabytes.
ОтветитьRemember how the biggest selling point of the PS5 was onboard hardware compression specifically to max out the transfer rate of SSDs while taking less space?
Ответить"There was a Western game dev here."
"How do you know?"
"120GB"
lol why I get MLGish vibes from this vid
ОтветитьImagine using 4k textures to render in 500p and upscale to 1440p having 40fps at best 😂
ОтветитьBuy indie! Buy small!
ОтветитьDank ass shitpost on real issues, i love it
ОтветитьThe CS industry milliseconds after hiring anybody with a pulse in 2019 from journalists to humanities majors:
Seriously games nowadays look genuinely HORRIBLE. Cod Cold War was called trash, but litterally looks 50x better than Black ops 6. \
Black ops 6 genuinely is the most visually garbage game to come out in the past 5 years. It looks HORRIBLE and has horrible performance.
You would expect such garbage graphics to atleast be runnable. But nah.
The worst part is it costs almost nothing to do basic optimization and to train your employees to know basic optimization.
Its like they dont even hire knowledgable people. They just hire webdev's.
we are the problem, we let this happen, WE buy uncompressed 4k slop when only 1% of the whole playerbase has a 4k monitor and less than 1% has a pc that can run 4k smoothly, yet all of us buy it. we play these games, we are choosing to eat anything instead of starving for a better meal. get real.
Ответитьyesssssssssssss
ОтветитьI have never struggled with not having enough storage. Granted. I bought three enterprise grade hard drives and striped the together in a raid five. I got 32 tbs of space. Because each drive is 18tb. Bring it, video game industry. I do indeed have enough storage!
ОтветитьWhat happened to texture reuse? You could have your ultra high resolution textures, just don't have 60 texture variants for brick walls in the game 😂
I mean, seriously, if they really tried, they could probably get away with 25GB and still have a graphical masterpiece.
Meanwhile me playing indi with actual optimization games on high end hardware
ОтветитьLaptop industries, can i have more upgradable parts

ОтветитьI literally get mods for downres'd textures since fallout 4

ОтветитьI remember back in the day when people were clowning on Titanfall 1 for having 54gb download size.
ОтветитьFallout 1 Master voices vibes.
ОтветитьTrying to cure a Hoarder by moving them into a palace and building in more rooms
ОтветитьSo true bestie
ОтветитьJust look at Avowed, it's got so little content and detail in it but is still somehow 75GB and requires an RTX 3080 minimum. Even though it looks like someone made an Unreal Engine 5 remake of a Skyrim mod that only a single guy worked on. Like, seriously Skyrim was only like 12 GB but still has an unfathomable amount of detail because they actually cared enough and the only way to get all this extra stuff like 4K textures or Ray Tracing is to mod it.
Ответитьinb4 300gb "open world"
ОтветитьMy genuine reaction when a game downloads in 1/4 of the size it takes up on disk
ОтветитьThis comment section is amazing
ОтветитьWhen people ask me what it's like being a PC gamer in 2025, I'm just gonna send them this.
ОтветитьGreen Is My Pepper
Ответитьoptimization? what's that? gamers should only have space for 1-2 games on their drive!
ОтветитьI will old-man-yells-at-cloud this till I die. I dont need or want 4k gigashart graphics, I want riveting gameplay
Ответитьwtf did i just watch
ОтветитьOblivion is 1Gb, and the biggest "bloat" comes from the godamn voicefiles!!!
ОтветитьA lot of this could be avoided by separating the high end textures into optional free DLC packs that you opt in like Siege did.
ОтветитьPC gamers are basically the audiophiles of gaming
ОтветитьIf you think assets in games are uncompressed you may be stupid. And stuck in the past in general if you think games must not grow in size as fidelity improves.
ОтветитьBut you don't understand, the- the AI, the upscaling- it- it's all worth it.
Ответитьsir you forgot your clozapine
ОтветитьBro, the other day I uninstalled Far Cry 6, and it gave me back 170 GB. First CoD, and now the singleplayer games, too?
ОтветитьI hate this video with a passion.
"software bloating" are the exact advances gamers are asking for. remember the days everyone was complaining about "downgraded graphics" well, now we live in the OPPOSITE of that.
and the "uncompressed asset time" just shows the degree of misunderstanding. Even a JPEG is many times more compressed than an "uncompressed asset". we just have a lot of unique assets in modern games.
The real problem lies in the price and affordability. NOBODY would complain if they all had a 4090 to run all the fancy new features but the common folk is still stuck on graphics cards from almost a decade ago.
Optimization? We're not paid enough for that
ОтветитьI feel like any videos of yours I watch, I get near-schizophrenia.
ОтветитьYou dont understand, its an immersive sim, so its perfectly fine that it takes up a quarter of my hard drive
