Like a kid in a sweet shop what a bit of kit very nice hours of fun to be had😂
ОтветитьI have the Titan version of that from Screwfix, fantastic bit of kit for the DIYer, I use it a lot, you're right about dust extraction, it's a must. It doesn't take long to bury yourself in wood shaving. 🤣🤣🤣 Cheers!
ОтветитьHi Rob, Wow !! great tool to have, planing that wood with easy, I can tell your happy with it. Good idea to take off The Bangles, or you will have a "Manic Monday" and you will end up "Walking like an Egyptian".......................... Great honest review and well explained, catch you soon take care.
ОтветитьNice new toy, rob. Other people have probably already said it, but don't use that plastic push stick. If you hit the blade, it will shatter and fly everywhere.
Ответить👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Thanks Rob
ОтветитьThanks Rob, a great real world first impressions review, I'd love one of these but would struggle for space at present. Good for you btw, about time someone gave you freebee or two ! 😉
ОтветитьCracking piece of kit. I love mine!
ОтветитьGet some machine wax to put on the top to protect the planer bed. Got my planer/thicknesser about a month ago and very happy with it so far.
ОтветитьHey Rob - great video as always! Little green about the freebie but it is well deserved. Those kid like whoops of delight is just so endearing. This is another example of why you are so popular. All the best with the new tool and remember do what’s best for you!!! 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьThat reminds me, I need to purchase a thicknesser for all the wood that I have, but first I need to financially recover from previous two purchases I did.
That cheap-o machine looks nice, but like with every of them the main two things are snips at the end and most important blade replacement.
That's a sound bit of kit Rob! Look forward to seeing you use this in future projects. Great video bud 👍
ОтветитьHaving reduced the size of my left ring finger by half, I still get anxious when viewing these machines.
ОтветитьI've had the 8" (200mm) from Erbaur for years. Great tool.
ОтветитьGreat video Rob don't suppose you would consider putting it up as a give away prize 🤣🤣 Keep em coming mate 👍👍
ОтветитьMachine Mart is a fantastic place to spend a couple of hours (and a few £ 😁). Awesome customer service from staff who actually seem really happy to help and chat 👍👍.
ОтветитьHoly Close shave BATMAN !! That's Awesome ! I want one I want one I want one 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing this Rob,
Enjoy your new Toy. This makes life MUCH easier.
Take care pal 👍😎👍
Another great video big fella, might treat myself to one of those !! 🇬🇧
ОтветитьTool or toy? 🤣 I've never seen you get so excited about a tool without any rubber. 🤣🤣
ОтветитьThanks for sharing, really interesting to see.
I use Liberon Lubricating Wax. Really makes a difference on bandsaw and wood planes too.
The exploded diagram helps, as when I needed to fix the second hand lathe I got, I was able to get the right parts. Not sure if Clarke is original design or a rebadge, but keep that manual handy as it will be really useful with the tools. It will depend on the direction I take my woodworking on whether I would add a thicknesser to the mix. There is a MachineMart close by, so handy if I do want to see in person.
Machine Mart translates to Very Expensive
Ответитьwhat append to parkside?
ОтветитьThe planer is a small version of the usual 210 and larger 260mm ones from Zipper, Parkside, Holzmann, Atika, many labels and are chinese copies based upon the original german Elektra Beckum HC260. All differ slightly, you got the bad angle fence. The main problem is the table of the thicknesser. It does bend under the pressure and this results in a step on the workpiece when the second rubber roll grabs it. Unusable. You have to replace the table with a 10mm aluminium plate or mount stiffeners below. The other problem is the angle fence, it deflects more than 1 degree, up to 5, unusable. Most people replace it with a rigid 90 degree fence. The third problem is the feed table, it is adjusted with just one screw and can tilt left or right because the outer guides are just sliding in sheet metal, Elektra Beckum did it better. Sadly this is not easily fixable. I paid 79€ for my 210mm. Unusable out of the box, usable after the first 2 modifications. But for nearly 300£ yours is way too expensive. 150mm is not much wider than a hand held planer tool. Buy the larger one. Preferably buy the original german HC260 at around 1000 used.
Ответить🤦🏻♂️ Oh no, not Machine Mart now as well, I’m almost completely destitute as a result of your Lidl & Aldi tool reviews!!!🙄😆
ОтветитьI'm not jealous. You deserve that for all you do for us. Seriously, I'm not jealous. I'm not jealous. I want one.
ОтветитьI have the Erbuaer version of that and can't complain much at all. The dust extraction could be better, but it's an entry level tool - it's good enough for light DIY use. I find it a bit noisy so wear my Loop earplugs and always wear my JSP Powercap. I have mine mounted on a trolley so I can wheel it around my shed, but have had a couple of near misses with larger pieces of timber making the trolley top-heavy.
I now keep some heavy stuff in the bottom of the trolley
Love the enthusiasm!
I’d definitely back a couple of the comments suggesting swapping the push stick,
May I also suggest (fully appreciate this was a test run and not for a particular project) taking off as thin a strip of material at a time, I found the lunchbox thicknesses can bog down, certainly on hardwoods, on anything above 1mm. You can get all sorts of issues. Worth taking your time for best results,
Also take time to find the right grain direction, you’ll have a buttery smooth finish in the end!
How did you avoid snipe on the end of the wood pieces, Rob? I have the Titan version of this machine, and I've been plagued with those unwanted dents in the ends of pieces that I've put through.
Really enjoy your vids btw👍
Why, why, why !!!!!!!!! I've just talked myself out of getting one, and then you make this vid. Now I want one again. P.S great vid mate.
ОтветитьGood machine for home use, about £370.00
ОтветитьLooking at getting into something like this. Was thinking about something like an 8 inch though.
ОтветитьDon’t forget, mate, to use every part of the blade when thickness in. This will even out the blade wear👍
Ответить6" width is a bit limiting - another £35 gets you the 8" version (a lot more for the 10" one, unfortunately).
ОтветитьSo, you've convinced yourself that it has given you a perfectly flat surface ?. In the occasional close ups the blade marks are obviously visible. You are certainly not a craftsman wood worker if that's the best you accept from your tools. Machine tools from Machine Mart are shoddy at best and expensive to get repaired at worst. How do I know ?. I had a bench top lathe and milling machine from them mainly from limited space and experience. Plastic gears which were easily broken, control panels subject to failure and expensive to replace, under powered low voltage DC motors which were soon stalled. Need I go on ?. Upgraded to straight from the wall socket AC driven motors. More power equals less time and frustration. there were still defects in the new machines that I had to resolve, but that was a pert of the learning curve. Now sadly, I have had to give up my beloved hobby due to Osteoarthritis of my spine, hips and neck. And so I am left with nothing to do besides making sarcastic comments on here. Don't settle for less than the best.
ОтветитьMachine Mart and Clarke are the same generic Chinese junk you get on ebay, Amazon ect but you get a warrenty and they hold spare parts. That planer is sold under many brand names much cheaper.
ОтветитьI have the Parkside planer thicknesser, which I'm pretty sure is identical.
ОтветитьYou need a roller stand to support the wood on exit.
ОтветитьFantastic! Looks a great piece of kit, chuffed you got one given!
ОтветитьNice one Rob! I bought a second hand planer-thicknesser, described as “like new” and it was terrible! It was deafeningly loud and didn’t pull the timber through like yours.
This looks a GREAT piece of kit, and would be a much better option :)
I have the 8 inch model of this, it is a nice bit of kit.
ОтветитьLooks very interesting. When you use a planer it is similar to using a hand plane, you put pressure in different places as you work from end to end. So press down as you feed and then transfer pressure to the outfeed. Thicknesser always support the material as it comes out or it will snipe the end..
ОтветитьI am thinking about getting a Multitool. It would help me a great deal. I am limited to budget and space so if I can keep tools to a minimum even better. Is it a good idea or not? Cordless would be better but costs more money. What do you guys think ??
ОтветитьI will be interested to see how you get on when it comes to sharpening or changing the blades. Can you include that when you do another video after you have used it "in anger".
ОтветитьThis is exactly the same as the machine you'll find in the middle aisle under the Parkside brand. Decent machine, shit fence. Think it's based on an old Kity design.
ОтветитьLidl has a tool-box vacuum on sale this Sunday (15th) would be ideal f that..👍
ОтветитьI have the Scheppach version of this, identical. Used it for a while, the cutter blades don't last long at all, think i replaced them 3 times. Then replaced the belt once, but bought extra belts. The infeed table was never level with the outfeed table, so contantly having to knock one side to level it up. Changing the blades is a nightmare to get them both the same height. Mine has the thicker aluminium fence which to get correct had to wedge a piece of metal in. The bottom bed moves when thicknessing. I have had it about 6--7 years and used it for about 6 months. It has sat in the back of the garage gathering dust where it belongs. I bought the Triton TPT125 317mm Thicknesser planer which is fantastic. Made a sled for it so now it planes and thicknesses.
ОтветитьI know how you feel, I got the 8" version a couple of weeks ago. I'm in love. I use a lot of pallet wood, it has truly transformed a sows ear into a silk purse. The measure gauge on the thicknesser is pretty damn close. Very low vibration.
My first purchase from these guys. Definitely going back to them for more.
Great vid...But i think it would be better to have a fence piece to help keep the wood as close to the cutting fence as possible as it gets thru the cutting area. You can see in the vid the wood starting to leave the fence ....hope you agree... But looks a great value tool..
