There is something about getting ink on the hands that makes this more artistic, in my opinion 😊 overall, like the Faber Castell very much, it's classy! Thanks Doodlebud!

FC nibs are the best.

Neo Slim is - second time I see that kind of curved nib. First was Schneider Easy Navy. It's best position for writing was strictly vertical. Didn't suit me at all but it should be rather comfortable for a persin with long fingernails. My ex wife prefers close to vertical pen grip. Wonder if that rule also works for Neo Slim?

Faber Castell fountain pens are criminally underrated, they're probably the best beginner pens out there, their nibs are just perfect.

Regarding the bottomless cartridge it's not only FC, last year I bought a couple of Schneider and Divine Design pens and the first thing I noticed on both was that odd cartridge, the seller told me they come like that and they didn't know why 😵‍💫

I'd like to say that I haven't been reloading and checking notifications to see if I won... I'd LIKE to say that...

I've seen Faber Castell pens reviewed by folks who thought that tiny front projection was the grip! Akin to picking up a baseball bat by the wrong end and going to the plate. Faber Castell has a good beta testing group and they rarely release a lemon. Nib makers should understudy with F-C (or Waterman) to learn how to make excellent nibs.

The spacer that looks like a cartridge 🤯
Those new (old) to ink .. do well to to work on a tray or kitchen flat pan.
I have a silicone mat with a nice lip for feeding the dog.
Dropper fill, or cleaning a tray is recommended. Good ink is durable.

The Neo Slim I have is beautiful but it hard starts constantly, there doesn't seem to be a seal in the cap which is probably the reason, a shame because it's a really pretty pen.

About the person holding the pen "strangely", did you notice if she was left-handed?
Left-handed writers sometimes have to adapt our writing-style/grip to being this "hook"-style "overwriter"-style of gripping/holding the pen, because if holding the pen below the text doesn't come naturally to us, then by holding the pen on the same line as the text, as some right-handed writers do, and as I was taught, then the hand of left-handed writers end up covering up what we just written, so we can't see it, and if the ink is slow-drying we'll end up smudging it all over the page, and our hand.
Therefore some left-handed writers naturally tend to push their hand over the text, and get this "hook"-like style, to get it out of the way, so we can see what we just written and give the ink time to dry.

Great reviews, thank you! I laughed at your mishap with squirting ink into the "bottomless" cartridge, because I did the exact same thing with my Faber Castell Hexo. I am impressed with the nib, and wanted to watch this review to consider another FC pen.

are there enough differences between the neo slim and the ambition that justify buying one over another or can i just get whichever and still get the same experience?

It's such a missed opportunity that Faber Castell doesn't have any clear-body fountain pens. They would make for phenomenal demonstrators.
