The eight-day international film festival which started from December 9 has concluded. Culture Minister V.N. Vasavan inaugurated the ceremony. When awards were announced on the closing ceremony,many expected movie names comae in and some of the predictions were wrong. Utama', a Bolivian film directed by Alejandro Loayza Grisi, has won the Suvarna Chakoram award (Golden Crow Pheasant) for the best film at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). Helmed by director Alejandro Loayza Grisi,the movie won hearts of thousands and bagged the award. The prize money is Rs 20 lakhs.

Meanwhile, Tayfun Price Mouglu from Turkey won the Rajata Chakoram Award for Best Director. Mouglu's film 'Kerr', which was based on a young man who witnessed a murder, was also nominated for an award at the film festival. 'Ariyippu', directed by Mahesh Narayanan, won the NETPAC Award for Best Malayalam Film. Meanwhile, director Lijo Jose Pellissery's Mammootty-starrer 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam' has won the award for the popular film. Director Tayfun Pirselimoglu won the Rajatha Chakoram award (Silver Crow Pheasant) for Best Director. Firas Khoury, who directed 'Alam', won the Rajatha Chakoram for Best Director in India. The same film also won the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film. PS Indu won the FIPRESCI Award for Malayalam Cinema.

Romi Meitei-helmed 'Our Home' won the FIPRESI International Award for Best Film along with The Netpac Special Jury Mention. The Malayalam film '19(1)(A)' got the FIPRESI Award for Best Debut Director at the festival.
On the other hand, director Sidharth Chauhan, who was at the helm of 'Amar Colony', got selected for the FFSI - KR Mohanan Award for Best Debut Director in India. Actors Manisha Soni and Muskan, who starred in the film 'A Place of Our Own' by Ektara Collective, were selected for a special mention for Best Performance in a Film in the international category
