Practical FFXIV Glamour Guide (Glamour Dresser, Glamour Plates and Dyes Explained)

The only thing I don't use the dresser for is glamouring on my eternity (wedding) ring to my outfits since it's a functional item and you can't put it in there anyway lol~

My interest wavered a little at 10-15 but now I can see why this game is so addicting. Please don't stop making these videos, they're awesome tidbits for info and keeps us sprouts up to you pros!

This was really helpful. Even playing for months and lvl 70+ i knew how to glamour and item, but I still had no damn idea how the glamour plate thing actually worked and haven't figured it out. This helped. It also goes to show, if you take the time to make a well-detailed guide of something seemingly difficult other people will find it helpful playing the game.

@Stefan Ash FFXIV This new trend of people yelling spoilers all over the internet nowdays is so silly imo. I might be old school but the very first thing we learned when internet was still a baby in the late 90s was If you want no spoilers about anything, AND I MEAN ANYTHING, stay of the freakin internet... This system is by far the worst about the game...... GW2 and WOW does it so much better...

Watched it and still have absolutely no idea how it works. What ami dropping into the dresser? The gear that I want to be visible? The gear I want to wear for the stats? Guide doesn’t cover the absolute bare essentials.

Ok….how do you design the items??!! I do have the prism and then the glamour prisms but not sure how to create. Example….I want to create thigh high red glitter boots. DON’T JUDGE ME! Lol! Love your videos.

Game needs a catalog for us to see where to get those glamours and how they look. I mean you can't browse them unless you got it as a drop or saw it on someone else. Although WoW is dying and it's been terrible since the last 4 years, tmog and mount collecting in WoW is superior.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with buying things from the store with real money. That store is there to make our game some extra money so why not? It's a supportive feature and there is nothing they sale there that is pay to win, which I love.

Thank you for this, thumbs up. Straight to the point, you spoke slowly and clearly without detailed visuals. I watched the first two videos that popped up when I was checking for glamour beginner guide and they were sooo annoying, the girls talked to fast and then their attempts at “humor” fell so flat, I was relieved when this was the 3rd video because I would have just gave up after this. Also, thank you for explaining the pure white dyes you purchase from online because i like pure white too and I definitely spend money on a game when it’s worth it. It’s not our fault other people are poor.

Such a garbage system. Absolutely horrible. If a player who's never applied Glamour before, can't do it intuitively, its terrible. Random quest. Random person. Random place. Done at dresser, at inn, which I've never seen. I'm a new player, I see the literal words "Cast Glamour" from my inventory, so you know, I think that means cast glamour. So then it says it can only be done to gear of the same level. This gear is from an achievement so there is no finding it at a higher level. So then I'm asking in chat if I can increase the level of the item so I can cast glamour because I'm a new player, I don't know anything and shouldn't need to lookup a fucking video for something that should be so simple. Just blows my fuckin mind. Insanity.

Here's Guild Wars 2's method:
Hero -> Wardrobe -> Click Item to change -> Click Skin to use -> apply... 5 Clicks....

What's worse is people defend this shit. Not to mention every skin is fuckin character locked too. Like I'm enjoying the game, but its like some things were created in the 1990's where they don't give a shit and expect you to just wander until you sort it. Like just changing a job to white mage, I would absolutely never find that npc without looking it up. Never. Just let me play what class I want at spawn.

This was super helpful for someone who's an absolute beginner player, but I'm still a tad confused. Why should I only glamour at?the dresser? (Had no clue there was an inn.)
Why shouldn't I glamour from my inventory/character menu, I'm very confused on the menu system? What happens if I, that's what I think I've been doing?

How do I allow my game to get me to register the item's looks to begin with? It wont let me select anything.
The glamor dresser doesn't even work, it doesn't even let me register an item at all.

Have watched this video Probly 5 times, great info!! Have a question for you tho (possible video idea to expand on this) is, when I’m using useful sites like Esoracollections and such, when I find one I want, what resources are out there to turn that glam you love into a reality on your character. Meaning how do you look up the gear, how do you understand drop rates or what vendors to get them from, where there located, tools to assist in that process. Maby a short play though where you pick a glam off EC and you build it (with all research) on screen!! Just a thought!!

Like the video but still lost could you do a video for Knobs like me:( I am really new and played eq2 for years and had so many clothes I love that but here I get stuck running around with boots on with a awsome coat:( I know learn the game first but this is part of the game and I don't know anything about the dresser and I am afraid to ruin something and get mad at myself for ruining something I loved. Love to see more on Glam step by step I have some dye and someone gave me prisms but saving till I learn. Thanks for video.

Ok…so the BASE item is what we currently are wearing? And the items to glamour has to be in your armoury chest for the glamour?!? I’m a moron lol. And…no shame in the dye. I purchased metallic red, purple, gold. I’m addicted lol.

Sprout question: Is there a way to turn off a Glamour Plate? I made a glamour plate with some gear earlier, applied my plate and then when I was walking around Gridania, decided I liked the original set better. But I can't seem to find a way to deselect the glamour plate and ended up having to physically deglamour each piece.

wait, so the mogstation dyes can be used over and over on glamor discs? im confused about that

The only reason I ever go without using the glamour dresser is when I'm just trying to glamour the weapon itself, but the plate that has the gear I'm glamoured for has the weapon for my main class. Same armor look, but different weapon

I want to remove my earrings on my character cosmetically but I still want them equipped there's no option for that. There is one for head gear though

So if I turn any piece of armor into glamour then it will mean that I can always equip it as glamour?

Hi there, so one little question about removing things from the glamour chest. Do you get the prism that you used to glamour it back or would I just have to buy another one to add something new to the chest?

im a simple man. i bought the dlc swimsuit summer and i just want that to stay on top of any new lancer gear i am getting as i am leveling up. and as a new player im getting new gear all the time but want the swimwear to show.

Thanks for the video, I’m still a bit confused about one thing. Is the glimmer dresser basically your storage for any gear with the exception of costing 1 prism to store each piece? I got 12 prisms for completing the quest to unlock the ability but am worried it’ll be hard to get more while on free trial. Is there a proper storage place to store excess items and equipment? The armoire seems to only hold specific items.

Factoid update: online costumes can be stored in the armoire.

Relics are my only reason i don’t have them in the dresser sometimes i wanna change the relic weapon look to another and having to go the dresser just to change it is a chore

I don't use the Glamour dresser because it's too hard to use even watching this video is confusing and I can't use it because I use controller and the settings for that is completely different the little hand what moves up and down I don't care what people call it is difficult to guide. this video is complete wasted time just use the items into your enter infantry you can have them in a list you don't need the Glamour dresser the Glamour dresser is pointless and has no value in the game to use
