Have been rewatching "Absolutley" and there's a whole show in series 2 which has Jack Docherty peering round various doorways, stepping out of wardrobes apologizing for whatever sketch had just been done or was taking place at the time.

Comedy is sometimes the best way to diffuse craziness that's out there. This sketch is a classic example of this. Am truly amazed that the BBC let this be made.

This is not a comedy sketch. This is reality in the 21st century. How sad.

Soon the bbc will be apologising for this sketch.

A few years ago we were having a discussion on the intranet at work about how bad the pay offer was that year. I commented, saying that had been sold down the river with this pay deal, as it meant that we would be getting paid single time for overtime. Someone replied "You can't say sold down the river! That phrase is connected with the 19th century American slave trade." I replied "Well, it's pretty obvious that I'm talking about the pay rise here, not the slave trade."
